About Flo Energy

Hi, we are Flo! We are on a mission to switch as many people and businesses as possible to affordable, renewable solutions.

We began in a small shophouse in Singapore and have grown rapidly ever since, expanding into Australia with even bigger plans ahead.

Unlike other retailers, we have built our own best-in-class energy platform entirely in-house. Designed specifically for the sector, it automates complex processes and keeps costs down, letting us offer genuinely affordable products to our customers.

Behind Flo is a diverse team of passionate engineers, data scientists, operators, and energy experts. We come from different backgrounds, but we are united by the shared goal of creating a more sustainable future. If you want to make an impact and help accelerate the renewable energy transition, we would love to meet you.

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer, Quality Assurance to join our Digital Enablement Technology Team at Flo. This is a pivotal role where you will take ownership of defining and establishing QA practices across the company, and help shape the future QA team as we scale. You will drive the testing strategy, select and implement appropriate test automation tools and frameworks, and ensure the quality and reliability of our digital products. Working closely with engineers and stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in setting a high standard for software excellence, supporting Flo’s mission to become the leading renewable electricity retailer in Singapore and Australia, and contributing to a more sustainable future.

What you'll do

This is a full-time role for an experienced QA Engineer to ensure the quality and automation of end-to-end solutions. You will be responsible for defining testing strategy, implementing automated tests for scalable and complex platforms, and enhancing our overall development process. Collaborating with both product vertical and horizontal teams, you will ensure the product meets quality standards, customer requirements, and performs effectively.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of scalable platforms throughout the entire product lifecycle, from conception to deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development and product teams, to ensure that automated tests align with product goals and meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Design and execute comprehensive regression testing strategies as part of the release cycle, ensuring that new features do not introduce regressions and that the product maintains its stability.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in test automation, driving increased test coverage, efficiency, and overall quality of the product.
  • Set up and maintain robust test environments, frameworks, and pipelines to ensure continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) of high-quality software.
  • Contribute to QA planning and lay the groundwork for building a strong QA team over time.
  • Ability to do regression testing to ensure stability and support frequent release cycles.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in test automation, ensuring that tests are repeatable, reliable, and effective in identifying defects early in the development process.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of test results, track issues, and communicate findings to stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution of quality-related concerns.
  • Monitor and continuously improve the performance and stability of the test automation suite.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in test automation and quality assurance, bringing new ideas and tools into the team to improve testing capabilities.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record with at least 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance and test automation, with a strong expertise in using tools such as Playwright or Cypress, and experience using Cucumber for Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Experience designing and implementing automated test suites, including regression testing, to ensure the stability and reliability of web applications across release cycles.
  • A genuine interest in how technology can improve the environments people live in, and a proactive approach to translating that into impactful QA practices and product insights.
  • Strong organizational ownership, and communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset that believes in the Agile principles and how they can help empowered teams deliver the best software
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and can implement security measures to safeguard our data and systems.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product, engineering, and leadership.
  • Aptitude for staying current with the latest developments and trends in the renewable energy industry and across the tech stack.
  • Experience with various tools and technologies (our tech stack includes Kotlin, PostgreSQL, TimeScaleDB, AWS, TypeScript) – familiarity with these is a plus, but not a requirement.
Extra points if you have:
  • Familiarity with both functional and OO programming, the JVM ecosystem and TypeScript.
  • Previous experience in the electricity retail market or a similar industry.
  • Enthusiasm about diving into ongoing projects and providing hands-on support where needed.
