Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) Engineer to support the evaluation, verification, and validation of software used in Department of War (DoW) missile systems, radar systems, and other mission- and safety-critical platforms. This role focuses on software integrity, airworthiness, analytical rigor, and lifecycle assurance to ensure software compliance with technical, safety, quality, and program requirements.

Engineers will collaborate with systems, software, safety, and quality teams to assess software engineering processes, products, and automation across the system lifecycle. Level of responsibility and technical leadership will align with experience and grade.

As a Software Engineer- Project Lead your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team of software engineers conducting independent verification and validation (IV&V) of software systems.
  • Evaluate software compliance with airworthiness, safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.
  • Assess software integrity, robustness, reliability, and risk.
  • Conduct software analysis of requirements, design, code, and test artifacts.
  • Review software engineering artifacts for correctness, completeness, traceability, and consistency.
  • Identify software anomalies, risks, and non-conformances, document findings and support resolution.
  • Support system reviews, certification activities, audits, and program milestones.
  • Utilize and/or develop software automation tools to support verification and analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Assists with artifact reviews, test analysis, and documentation.
  • Learns DoW processes, missile and radar system concepts, and applicable standards.
  • Performs IV&V activities independently on complex systems.
  • Interfaces directly with program stakeholders and customers.
  • Drives continuous improvement and technical best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10 or more years of applicable experience. Relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Progressively complex software design engineering experience. Experience or academic background in software engineering, software analysis, IV&V, or software assurance.
  • Understanding of software development, lifecycles and verification methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and clearly document results.
  • Must have an active secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DoW missile systems, radar systems, or other defense platforms.
  • Familiarity with standards such as DO-178, MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-498, IEEE software standards, or equivalent.
  • Experience with airworthiness or safety-critical software environments.
  • Experience with software automation, scripting, or test frameworks.
  • Active DoW security clearance or ability to obtain one.

  • Occasional travel may be required to support program needs.
