Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) division delivers industry-leading metrology solutions essential to advanced semiconductor manufacturing. Its portfolio includes systems for measuring film thickness, critical dimensions, composition, and resistivity—key to developing and scaling next-gen IC processes. FaST partners closely with customers from early R&D through high-volume production, ensuring performance and process alignment.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Metrology Division in Milpitas, California!

In this role, you will contribute to the development of next-generation metrology systems by designing and delivering high-performance software solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines and geographies to create innovative products that accelerate technology development and improve customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop software for next-generation metrology tools and platforms.
• Create and enhance software emulation tools to accelerate product development, testing, and validation.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into robust software designs and implementations.
• Develop, test, debug, and deliver high-quality software features throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including systems, hardware, algorithm, and applications engineers located in the U.S. and internationally.
• Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support performance optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex software systems.

Required Qualifications

• Programming experience in C# and C++.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Programming (OOD/OOP) principles.
• Experience developing multithreaded applications.
• Experience with WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) GUI development.
• Knowledge of image processing concepts and techniques.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, global engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing scientific, engineering, or instrumentation software.
• Familiarity with software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience working with complex distributed or real-time systems.
• Knowledge of semiconductor equipment, metrology, inspection, or imaging systems.
• Experience with automated testing and software quality practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years

Total Rewards

Base Pay Range: $114,800.00 - $168,400.00 Annually Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
