Rockstar is on the lookout for a passionate Software Engineer who is skilled at hands on development.

This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s unique game development studio in the heart of Dundee, Scotland. 

WHAT WE DO
  • The Rockstar Games Information Systems team create and maintain production software tools that are used by all game development disciplines to support the creation of all Rockstar Games projects.
  • The tools we build range from task management software, defect trackers with games console integration, distributed video recording systems, reporting and analytics applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and implement solutions to help us meet the challenges of fast paced game development.
  • Contribute towards the team’s software design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other Rockstar technology teams across our worldwide studios.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the systems we use and learn new technologies to help advance our applications.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Java backend development.
  • Strong command of Java, from low-level optimization to high-level architecture.
  • Deep expertise in the Spring Boot ecosystem and JPA/Hibernate.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs.
  • Solid understanding of MySQL (or other major RDBMS) with query-tuning experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and change data capture (CDC) pipelines.
  • Proficient in Java performance profiling and debugging.
  • Comfortable in Linux environments, with strong communication and production-support skills.
PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • Familiarity with Directed Acyclic Graphs and Graph Databases.
  • Familiarity with media processing tools like FFMPEG.
  • Exposure to version control, CI/CD systems and build automations.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and multi-tier server applications.
  • Exposure to Caching Systems, Spring Cloud, Swagger.
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake / Apache Doris.
  • Familiarity with Debezium.
