Job DescriptionThe opportunity
Join a small Engineering team, make an impact and help shape our future while working on Greenfields projects. You’ll have flexibility, freedom, and ability to influence one of Australia’s fastest growing businesses and help us scale to support millions of users. We're transitioning to a Microservices architecture and just released a new platform and iOS app, with a new Android app being released in the coming months. You’ll work with Engineering Manager Ali Muzaffar who is ex- BCG Digital Ventures and other senior engineers on backend, frontend and mobile, Product Lead Joël Kalmanowicz and CTO Elena Kelareva who are ex-Google. We are results-oriented, have flexible hours and have some parents in the team so we value work life balance.
What you’ll do
Design highly scalable and flexible software solutions
Document and communicate with design, Engineers and stakeholders
Participate actively with other Engineers and stakeholders to ensure Sonder systems and apps address the needs of the business and the end-users;
Follow software development best practice and produce well structured, well documented source code;
Be involved in the software development lifecycle, including the planning, analysis, designing, developing, integration, testing, deployment and the maintenance of software applications for a range of internal and external stakeholders
What we're looking for
Talented Java developer with experience building RESTful APIs
You will be working with Spring Boot, MySQL, AWS technologies
Commercial experience in Microservices and Serverless architectures is highly regarded
Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, and container technology (e.g. Docker) is an advantage
Experience in writing testable code, good unit/integration tests
Good understanding of design patterns and software architecture best practices
Experience working in an Agile environment
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, IT or similar field
