Our mission at Skyryse is nothing less than a new era in flight, where fatalities are nearly zero, piloting any aircraft is simple and safe, and the sky is accessible to all. SkyOS, our industry-first universal operating system for flight, provides any airplane or helicopter with a fly-by-wire flight management solution that significantly reduces the complexity of flying. Skyryse One, our first production aircraft powered by SkyOS, was unveiled in 2024 and features the simplest, safest, and most intuitive flight controls in general aviation.
This internship is based in our El Segundo office. As an Engineering Intern on our Software Engineering (Tools) Team, you will take part in designing, developing and integrating our SkyOS software. You will be given projects and tasks to help develop, enhance throughput and develop tools for the flight software.
The Summer Intern Program will run for 12 weeks starting in May / June depending on your academic calendar.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design software using Python or Rust
- Deploy and gather metrics on software across multiple cloud server instances
- Support the development of tools that are necessary to retrieve and monitor critical data
- Collaborate with other SWE’s to develop emulation software for testing custom in-house operating system
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a university pursuing your Bachelors or Masters in an engineering discipline (Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar)
- Graduating between December 2026 & June 2028
- Proficiency in a general programming language (C, C++, Python, Java, Javascript, Rust, etc.)
- Has taken a course in Data Structures and Algorithms, and Operating Systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD Student studying Computer Science (or similar)
- Prior internship experience in aviation a bonus
