Job Description

The purpose of a Senior Software Engineer is to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software systems while ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and driving best practices in coding, architecture, and software development processes. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for making critical decisions regarding technology and design, collaborating across teams to facilitate project success, and identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Play a key role in troubleshooting and resolving advanced technical challenges, all while fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality within the engineering team.

• Optimize System Performance: Continuously evaluate and enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of the system to support business needs and improve user satisfaction.

• Align with Strategic Goals: Develop and implement solutions that align with the organization's strategic objectives, driving efficiency and supporting business growth.

• Lead and Develop the Team: Build and maintain a high-performing development team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and performance.

• Foster Collaboration and Communication: Promote effective communication and collaboration across teams and with stakeholders to ensure alignment, manage expectations, and facilitate successful project outcomes.

• Drive Innovation: Identify and implement innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance system functionality and maintain a competitive edge.

• Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technologists, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations to drive high-quality output and professional growth.

• Innovation and Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation by staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies, proposing and implementing new solutions to enhance digital capabilities.

Experience, knowledge & skills required

• Degree in Computer Science or related qualification

• 5 - 8 years of experience

• Experience in Agile Methodology or related 

• Exposure to AWS or related cloud infrastructure

• Knowledge of Functional Programming

• Solid knowledge and understanding of design patterns

• Solid knowledge and understanding of Object Oriented Principles/Programming

• Understanding of SOLID principles

• Experience with CI/CD

•  Core Skills:

  • Java 8+

  • Concurrency and Multi-threading

  • Spring Boot, Quarkus Frameworks

  • RESTful services

  • Microservices architecture

  • Docker

  • Version Control (Git)

  • Test Driven Development

  • DevOps (Building pipelines)

  • Cloud Services (SQS, SNS, ECR, EKS, RDS, ALB, ELK)

  • Hibernate ORM, SQL
