The Role
Own the infrastructure and platform layer for an agentic integration platform. Build and operate a durable, sandboxed integration runtime; orchestrate AI agents; develop self-healing systems, observability, and knowledge infrastructure; and support single-tenant, self-hosted deployments. Establish engineering patterns, help recruit the infrastructure team, and grow into domain leadership. The role is in-person in San Francisco and requires production Kubernetes experience and startup experience.

01. The Problem

Lack of connectivity is the most fundamental problem in the physical economy.

The physical economy runs on networks of interconnected companies, but on systems that were never designed to talk to each other. Every time two companies need to exchange data, someone builds a custom integration by hand: business analysts, integration engineers, QA. Manual, every time. (Google EDI if you haven't. It's wild.)

A lot of companies have tried to fix this. Nobody has. We think AI agents are the way.

02. What We're Building

Temper is an agentic integration platform for the real economy. Specialized AI agents handle the full lifecycle: gathering requirements in plain English, generating integration code, testing, deploying, and keeping integrations alive in production. When something breaks, the agents fix it.

We have paying enterprise customers and real integrations running in production. There's more demand than we can keep up with.

Seed-funded with over $8M raised. Earliest team of under 10.

03. The Tech

The agents do real work with real consequences in production systems.

What you'd build:

  • Agent orchestration across multiple specialized agents coordinating complex workflows

  • Platform engineering: a mini Vercel for integration runtime with durable execution

  • Self-healing systems that detect failures and recover autonomously

  • A knowledge base of undocumented systems that gets smarter with every integration

Nobody has shipped this kind of platform at production scale, even in other verticals.

04. The Founders

Daniel (CPO) grew up in his family's trucking business. Built the freight product at Hive, Europe's leading eCom logistics startup, from 0 to $M. Hardware-native engineer who taught himself to code.

Heinrich (CEO) ran 100+ person warehouse operations at Amazon, then consulted on system integrations at KPMG. Built Hive's largest revenue line from zero.

Nick (CTO) built Lilith at 16, led an offensive security program for a nation-state, entrepreneur for 8 years. In eCom, he led the tech that scaled a company from 0 to $100M in 3 years.

Daniel and Heinrich built Hive from pre-seed to 400+ people. They've been living this problem for years.

05. The Role

You'll own the infrastructure and platform layer end-to-end, working directly with Nick (CTO).

Temper is two hard infrastructure problems stacked on each other: a mini cloud platform, basically a Vercel for integration runtime where every customer's code runs with durable execution, sandboxed isolation, and self-healing. Plus an agent infrastructure that writes, tests, and deploys that code at scale in production. On top of both, full observability into everything integrations and agents are doing, shipped as a single-tenant, self-hostable product customers can run inside their own cloud.

That's your surface area.

You'll also set the engineering patterns every future infra hire builds on, help us recruit that team from your network, and grow into leading the domain within a year. This is a leadership track from day one.

You're comfortable running multiple AI agents in parallel. You pick up new things fast.

06. You Might Be a Fit If

  • You've run Kubernetes in production. Operated it, scaled it, debugged it at 2am.

  • You've owned infrastructure or a platform end-to-end: shipped it, scaled it, kept it alive.

  • You've operated in fast, ambiguous, under-resourced environments -- 3+ years at a high-growth startup.

  • You code with AI agents and lean into it, with enough taste to know what's worth shipping.

  • You hold strong technical opinions and change them when the evidence says so.

  • You move independently.

  • You want to do the best work of your career.

  • You want a true early-stage, in-person experience in San Francisco: fast-paced, high intensity.

07. What We Offer

  • Top-quartile compensation and meaningful equity

  • Top-tier office in San Francisco

  • M4 MacBook Pro and whatever else you need to move fast

  • Full health coverage

08. The Process

  • Screen (20 min): Quick chat, mutual fit.

  • Deep dive (45 min): Your career, what you've built, how you think.

  • Technical (60 min): Design a system with us. No leetcode.

  • Paid work day: A real task from our backlog, in person.

  • Offer: Under two weeks from first call to offer.

Skills Required

  • Production Kubernetes operations, scaling, and troubleshooting experience
  • End-to-end ownership of infrastructure or platform systems
  • At least 3 years of experience at a high-growth startup
  • Experience operating infrastructure at production scale
  • Ability to work with multiple AI agents in parallel
  • Strong independent execution in fast-paced, ambiguous, under-resourced environments
  • Willingness to work in person in San Francisco

What We Do

Temper builds an AI-native integration platform for the real economy, with a focus on supply-chain connectivity. Its specialized AI agents gather requirements in plain English, generate integration code, test and deploy integrations, and monitor and repair them in production. The platform helps supply-chain teams connect with trading partners and automate mission-critical data exchanges without relying on extensive, costly manual engineering alone.
