Join Verisk Extreme Event Solutions and be part of a dynamic, agile software engineering team building the next generation of cloud‑based, high‑performance analytical solutions. As a Software Engineer III, you will contribute directly to the design, development, and optimization of scalable systems that support advanced analytics used across the catastrophe and risk modeling domain.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across the full development lifecycle—from architecture and design through implementation, testing, and deployment—and who is motivated by building robust, performant systems at scale. You’ll collaborate closely with other engineers to deliver clean, maintainable code while continuously improving system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer III, you will play a hands‑on role in both feature development and platform evolution. Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑based analytical frameworks and tools that power scalable solutions.
  • Build robust, high‑performance systems using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and Parquet‑based big data solutions
  • Collaborate on infrastructure‑as‑code initiatives to support modern cloud environments.
  • Actively enhance system functionality, improve performance, and optimize compute and memory usage.
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, testing, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Investigate and resolve customer inquiries and software defects, ensuring production stability and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to support test‑driven development practices.
  • Participate in DevOps infrastructure efforts, supporting both development and production environments.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure clean code, sound architecture, and scalable design.
Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Strong experience developing scalable applications using C# and .NET Core.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud platforms and services, including efficient data storage technologies such as Apache Parquet
  • Solid understanding of object‑oriented design, design patterns, and performance‑tuning techniques
  • Experience with test‑driven development and CI/CD pipelines

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to big data solutions, including distributed systems and parallel computing.
  • Background or interest in math and statistics
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS platform development and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling.
  • Proficiency with Docker and containerized applications
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills with a focus on software robustness.
