About Team
This is the team which builds reusable technologies that aid in acquiring customers, onboarding and empowering merchants besides ensuring a seamless experience for both these stakeholders. They also optimize tariffs and assortment, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost. In addition to ushering in affordability, they also create personalized experiences for customers the omnichannel way, across all channels - in-store, on the mobile app and websites. Our team is responsible for design, development, and operations of large-scale consumer facing applications. We focus on real-time transactions, user experience flows, streaming analytics across web and native apps. We interact with multiple teams across the company to provide scalable robust technical solutions.
What You'll Do- Design, develop, and maintain scalable E2E test automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, and/or Cypress for web and API layers of retail and eCommerce applications.
- Build and own API test suites covering REST endpoints and Kafka event contracts, validating data integrity, schema compliance, and service-level behaviours.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) to enforce quality gates on every build, PR, and release candidate.
- Develop performance and load test scenarios (JMeter, Gatling, or k6) to validate system behaviour under production-scale traffic on GCP and Azure.
- Collaborate with software engineers and product managers to understand acceptance criteria and translate them into precise, maintainable test cases.
- Implement test data management strategies — synthetic data generation, environment isolation, and teardown — to support reliable, repeatable test execution.
- Monitor test results, analyse failure patterns, and triage flaky tests; drive root cause resolution with engineering teams.
- Maintain quality dashboards and reporting (test pass rates, coverage trends, MTTR for test failures) visible to engineering and product leadership.
- Contribute to shift-left quality practices — reviewing design documents for testability, pairing with developers during feature development, and promoting TDD/BDD adoption.
- Deploy and operate test infrastructure on Kubernetes / GCP / Azure, including containerised test execution environments and parallel test runner orchestration.
- Champion observability in test pipelines — integrate logging, tracing, and alerting to surface failures rapidly and with full context.
- Leverage AI-powered test generation tooling to accelerate test authoring, improve coverage, and maintain self-healing test suites.
- Collaborate with ML and data teams to validate AI/ML-powered product features — testing model outputs, recommendation accuracy, and intelligent search quality.
- Evaluate and adopt AI-driven quality tools (autonomous test agents, LLM-based defect triage, predictive test selection) to improve engineering efficiency.
- 3–5 years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong focus on test automation and quality engineering.
- Proven proficiency with at least one major E2E automation framework — Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, or Cypress — including page object models, fixtures, and parallel execution.
- Solid experience with API testing tools and frameworks (REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent) for functional and contract-level validation.
- Strong Java skills for backend test automation — TestNG, JUnit, Maven/Gradle, and integration with CI/CD tooling.
- Proficient in JavaScript and/or TypeScript for front-end and Playwright/Cypress-based automation.
- Experience writing SQL queries and validating data in both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis, Cassandra) stores.
- Working knowledge of Kafka — ability to produce/consume test events and validate event-driven service behaviour.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines; familiarity with GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Understanding of containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable test execution on GCP or Azure.
- Strong analytical skills — ability to triage complex failures, isolate root causes, and communicate findings clearly to engineering and product stakeholders.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and test tooling in day-to-day quality engineering practice.
- Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, Behave) and collaboration with product owners on feature definition and acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on performance testing experience using JMeter, Gatling, or k6 at production-scale traffic volumes.
- Exposure to contract testing frameworks (Pact or Spring Cloud Contract) for service-to-service validation in microservices environments.
- Experience with accessibility testing (axe-core, Lighthouse) and ensuring WCAG compliance in eCommerce UI flows.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Splunk, Grafana, Jaeger) for test failure triage and system-level diagnosis.
- Experience testing eCommerce or retail platforms — checkout, cart, product catalog, search, health/wellness verticals.
- Exposure to AI-powered test generation, self-healing selectors, or LLM-assisted defect triage tools.
- Contributions to open-source test automation projects or internal testing libraries.
- Cloud certification (GCP Associate / Azure Developer).
