You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, Freight Audit and Pay engineering team that builds and operates systems enabling accurate freight invoice validation, carrier settlement, and payment processing across Nike's global supply chain. You will be a senior individual contributor on the squad, working alongside Leads and Principal engineers to deliver complex backend systems, data pipelines, and enterprise integrations that connect transportation management, financial systems, and freight audit workflows.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for senior engineers who own outcomes end-to-end—engineers who can decompose ambiguous problems, drive high-quality designs, and ship complex systems with minimal oversight.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
A minimum of 5–8 years of backend and/or data engineering experience.
Strong expertise in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala, and confident fluency in SQL and data modelling.
Proven experience designing and shipping production Microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems.
Hands-on experience with modern data platforms—Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalogue (or equivalent)—and orchestration tools such as Airflow.
Solid cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including IAM, secrets, networking, and cost-aware design.
Experience with distributed messaging (Kafka, SQS), caching (Redis), and search (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch) where relevant.
Strong test-driven development discipline, including productive use of AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor
Experience with CI/CD, observability (metrics/tracing/alerting), and incident response.
Familiarity with Freight Audit systems (or) transportation management systems (TMS) such as BlueYonder, Centerio, SAP TM, or similar platforms—understanding shipment lifecycle, carrier tendering, freight costing, rating, and settlement workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with application configuration and integration in supply chain or logistics contexts—working with SaaS platforms, master data (carriers, locations, rates, service levels), and EDI/API integrations between TMS, ERP, and WMS systems
Integration architecture patterns connecting logistics systems (TMS/WMS) with financial systems (ERP/AP), middleware platforms (MuleSoft, SAP PI/PO), and data synchronisation across distributed systems.
As a Software Engineer III in Freight Audit and Pay, you will own meaningful slices of our invoice processing, carrier settlement, and financial integration systems—and influence how the broader team builds.
System Design & Delivery
You will lead the design and delivery of significant backend and data services that ingest, validate, and reconcile freight invoices from carriers, match them against shipment bookings and rate agreements from Blue Yonder TMS, and prepare validated invoices for financial posting in ERP.
You will build and maintain integration pipelines connecting transportation systems (Blue Yonder TMS, Manhattan WMS), financial systems (SAP S/4 ERP), carrier EDI/API feeds, and freight audit platforms—ensuring master data consistency, real-time event synchronisation, and accurate accrual workflows
You will design microservices and APIs that support freight costing, rating engines, exception management, dispute resolution, and spend analytics—serving operational teams.
Technical Leadership & Influence
You will raise the engineering bar through high-leverage code reviews, pairing, and authoring patterns and blueprints that other squads adopt.
You will own production reliability and operational quality of the services you build—leading on-call, capacity planning, and post-incident learning.
You will collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams and represent your squad in cross-org technical forums.
