Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Position Summary:

  • Seeking a software engineer with experience in experience in ETL/Data Engineering, Mainframe, and real-time data replication environments.
  • The individual will serve as a technical bridge between Data Engineering and Quality Engineering teams, contributing to ETL solution development, automated validation frameworks, and shift-left quality practices.
  • The role supports the broader adoption of software engineering practices within Quality Engineering, helping embed automation, data validation, and testability throughout the development lifecycle while strengthening reliability across mission-critical data services.
  • This role drives ownership of data integrity, transformation accuracy, replication reliability, and automated validation across high-volume data integration and streaming platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
  • Develops and enhances ETL solutions, data transformation logic, automated validation frameworks, and quality controls supporting DDS initiatives
  • Collaborates with architects, developers, and testers to design solutions that promote automation, testability, observability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Mentor testers and quality engineers on software engineering principles, automation frameworks, CI/CD integrations, and shift-left quality practices.
  • Participates in story refinement, solution design reviews, and planning activities to identify quality risks, automation opportunities, and validation strategies early in the development lifecycle.
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of applicable experience
  • Experience developing and supporting ETL/DataStage solutions, real-time data replication platforms, and large-scale data integration processes with a strong focus on automation and quality engineering.
  • Strong engineering expertise across Mainframe, DataStage, IIDR/CDC, and Kafka-based data pipelines, including development, troubleshooting, automation, and validation activities.
  • Ability to drive ownership of source-to-target validation, transformation accuracy, data integrity, and consistency across high-volume replication and streaming data platforms.
