We are seeking a motivated and experienced mid-level software engineer for the search platform team for our Disney Streaming apps (Disney+, Hulu and Star+). As an engineer on this team focused on tools, you will collaborate with your peers to design and build powerful full-stack web application tools that drive visibility and operational control of our Search systems. These systems allow us as a team and a domain to drive crucial engagement in our Search experience used by millions of viewers.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain our search domain's internal tools to improve operational control and visibility into how Search performs on Hulu and Disney+
  • Participate in frontend web application design and backend API architecture conversations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams like Product and Program to identify search-related business requirements and provide technical solutions
  • Foster and maintain effective communication channels with your team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our search tooling and infrastructure


Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 of years related work experience in software engineering, with a focus on building well-designed frontend web applications that integrate with backend APIs, shipping robust code and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Demonstrated success in being part of a team problem-solving, designing and implementing software at scale
  • Mentorship experience & a desire to help your fellow engineers get better at what they do
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting and explaining complex technical ideas to peers and leadership
  • Biased towards action, with experience delivering high-quality software solutions on time, at scale and within budget.
  • Experience with Javascript, ReactJS, Node, VueJS (or similar), Automated UI Testing, AWS infrastructure


Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.


The hiring range for this position in LA/Santa Monica is $114,900-$154,100, and Seattle/NYC is $120,300- $161,300, and Bay Area is $125,800- $168,700. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
