Checkbox is a Series A, Sequoia-backed technology company on a mission to enable meaningful work for all.

We help in-house legal teams capture, triage, manage and resolve work through no-code automation, matter management and AI-powered legal intake.

We’re now building toward an AI-native Legal Service Hub: a new way for legal teams to manage work with systems that can understand context, reason through next steps, orchestrate workflows and keep humans in control.

We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Enterprise to help build the enterprise-grade foundations that allow Checkbox to scale with larger, more complex customers.

This role is best suited to an experienced TypeScript / Node.js engineer who wants to grow deeper into enterprise authentication, security and integrations.

You do not need to arrive as an expert in OAuth, Okta, 2FA or enterprise integrations. You should bring strong backend engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to build reliable production systems. You’ll be supported and mentored by experienced specialists as you learn this space.

• Build backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Work on enterprise capabilities across authentication, identity, security and integrations.

• Help build projects such as OAuth flows, Okta instances, 2FA, enterprise auth patterns and our Integrations Hub.

• Build secure, scalable systems that support complex enterprise customer needs.

• Partner with Product, Engineering and customer-facing teams to turn enterprise requirements into reliable product capabilities.

• Contribute to architecture decisions across security, scalability, reliability and maintainability.

• Write high-quality, tested and observable production code.

• Learn from experienced specialists in enterprise architecture, identity, security and integrations.

• Strong experience building backend systems with TypeScript and Node.js.

• Experience building APIs, services, integrations or backend application logic.

• Strong engineering fundamentals across testing, reliability, maintainability and code quality.

• Interest in learning enterprise authentication, identity, security and integration patterns.

• Product-minded judgement and the ability to balance customer needs with technical quality.

• Clear communication skills and comfort working across technical and non-technical teams.

• A pragmatic, curious and ownership-oriented mindset.

• Exposure to OAuth, SSO, SAML, Okta, Auth0 or other identity platforms.

• Exposure to 2FA/MFA, permissions, access control or auditability.

• Experience building integrations or working with third-party APIs.

• Experience in B2B SaaS, enterprise software, workflow platforms or legal tech.

• Experience working with security-conscious or compliance-heavy customers.

You’ll join as a strong Node engineer and grow into a high-value technical area with mentorship from people who know this space deeply.

You’ll work on meaningful backend challenges across identity, security and integrations, without needing to have mastered all of them before day one.

You’ll help build the enterprise foundations behind a product used by leading legal teams around the world.
