The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is currently looking for a proactive and self-motivated Software Engineer to join our team. Working within the Battlespace Communications System programs, you will be part of the team that develops, integrates, verify and delivers the LAND 4140 Battle Management System (BMS) to the Australian Defence Force. Boeing's Battlespace Communications System is the Australian Defence Force's next generation command, control and communications system which connects deployed forces.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing software components that contribute to state-of-the-art battle management mission systems.
  • Developing, testing and maintaining scalable and robust software applications.
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and industry standards.

You'll be supporting a capability that has security considerations and is both Windows and Linux based, so virtualisation and networking knowledge is a bonus.
About You:
  • Self-starter, ability to take ownership of projects including software implementations and product reviews
  • Ability to utilize engineering problem solving skills
  • Ability to remediate/resolve issues in high pressure situations
  • Enjoy being surrounded by a motivated and high performing team
  • Ability to present ideas to large forums
  • Strong Attention to detail when following documentation and always striving for first time quality
  • Ability to follow an engineering lifecycle

Technical requirements include the following:
  • 3 + years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on Python and/or Java
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with database systems (eg PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of version control systems (eg Git, Jenkins)
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (eg Agile, Scrum)
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud deployments (eg Azure, AWS)
  • Experience with development and integration of LAND C4 systems
  • Experience with Visio, Cameo and/or similar software

Skills Required
