About the roleDelta builds BLP’s core software: the technical foundation that everything else at the company runs on.
Who we're looking forModelling logic and correctness by construction is paramount to us. We aim to express what must be true, prevent invalid states, and keep systems pristine even as they grow.
Thus, we’re looking for highly ambitious engineers who can tackle difficult problems and think precisely. You must be able to make assumptions explicit and use formal, structured reasoning to reach a solution, and explain why it is correct. Typically, strong background in mathematics is a key foundation for this kind of work. We also place a high value on thoroughness and perfectionism.
Tooling wise, we rely heavily on type systems & functional programming.
Our work spans four areas, you will usually work on a given project within one of:
Infrastructure: Build and operate the cloud infrastructure BLP depends on, covering security, observability and CI/CD.
Backend: Develop a large codebase, tackling performance, concurrency and the challenges of distributed systems.
ML: Apply the latest AI technology to complex, real-world business problems and turn it into reliable production software.
Unbound: Build our product extension platform, enabling BLP to automate arbitrary customer business processes as we scale.
We do not require experience with any particular technology or even industry software development experience.
You should, however, provide clear evidence of the abilities we’re looking for. That evidence could include:
strong academic backgrounds (math PhD/MSc or significant olympiad achievements)
startup experience (early employee, built productive systems yourself & know what it takes to maintain them)
FP experience (have deep understanding of programming languages and are able to discern the various tradeoffs of different paradigms)
We value engineers who think deeply about systems, care about correctness, and take pride in building infrastructure that is understandable, maintainable, and reliable.

Skills Required
- Clear evidence of strong problem-solving, precise reasoning, and ability to make assumptions explicit and explain solution correctness
- Strong academic background in mathematics, such as a mathematics PhD or MSc, or significant olympiad achievements
- Startup experience, including building and maintaining productive systems independently
- Deep understanding of programming languages and functional programming tradeoffs
