We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the development of the Forge Operations Center (FOC) — Honeywell's Executive Insights and Decisions Platform. This is a player-coach role at the intersection of engineering excellence and platform vision, where you will build the technical foundation that transforms FOC from an insights platform into a prescriptive, autonomous operational intelligence system.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do
- Design and build scalable, high-availability, low-latency applications powering executive-grade operational intelligence
- Drive platform evolution toward prescriptive and autonomous decision intelligence capabilities
- Build production-grade integrations across distributed data sources enabling real-time analytics and recommendations
- Lead, coach, and mentor early-career engineers — setting the bar for code quality, testing, and architecture
- Establish and enforce engineering standards across the team (code reviews, CI/CD, design reviews)
- Partner with SRE and platform teams on reliability, observability, and operational readiness
- Translate complex product requirements into elegant, scalable technical solutions
- Communicate architecture decisions and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Design systems with future AI and agentic automation capabilities in mind
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including hands-on engineering and team leadership
- Strong proficiency in Python with working knowledge of Django and Celery for building robust, async-capable backend systems
- Experience with modern frontends using React JS
- Solid foundation in cloud-native development (containerization, microservices, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
- Proven ability to architect high-availability, low-latency distributed systems
- Track record of mentoring and growing junior engineers
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business audiences
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with Agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar)
- Familiarity with AI/ML systems integration and LLM-powered workflows
- Background in industrial, IoT, or SRE-adjacent domains
