Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Software Development Manager at our facility in Bellevue, Washington to serve as a member of Chewy’s Native Mobile App (NMA) team, manage and lead a team of experienced Software Engineers and Quality Engineers within Chewy’s mobile app ecosystem and related Consumer Experiences (CX).

What You’ll Do: 

  • Work and collaborate with others in Engineering Leadership to drive best practices in software development, testing, and production operations.
  • Partner with our recruiting team to continue to build team and mentor the growth of the current talented team.
  • Drive technical decisions and work with product owners to manage the backlogs to support multiple teams within the Chewy Software organization.
  • Establish strong working relationships across functional teams.
  • Identify and manage priorities within the context of overall Chewy objectives.
  • Work with others in Engineering Management to drive best practices in software development, testing, and production deployment.
  • Local telecommuting permitted.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience.
  • Experience must include 5 years in Software Development as a Software Engineer; and
  • 1 year of experience in Engineering Management.
  • Experience must also include the following: implementing and managing significant software development projects;
  • Delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology;
  • Leading teams building and growing iOS and/or Android apps;
  • Providing guidance on iOS and android frameworks, compilers, linkers, and software best practices to mobile engineering teams;
  • Troubleshooting cross‐vertical issues and engaging stakeholders;
  • In‐depth technical analysis of CPU‐limited, network‐limited, and other performance bottlenecks in applications;
  • Evaluating third party SDKs (Software Development Kits) and providing technical guidance to business stakeholders;
  • Supporting continuous integration pipelines for native mobile applications;
  • Automating identification issues;
  • Resolving build errors to unblock teams; and
  • Providing fundamental cross‐feature infrastructure for new business initiatives, including low level networking, logging, crash reporting, and cross‐module communication and synchronization.
  • Local telecommuting permitted.

Compensation & Benefits:

Our salary range for a Software Development Manager position is $182,754.00 - $234,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
