Manager I, Software Development 

The Software Development Manager I leads a team of software engineers to build scalable and flexible demand generation tools. You will own the coaching and career development of your direct reports. You will work with your manager and team to execute immediate/short-term projects critical to the technical vision and roadmap of Flexe's platform.  You will work with a cross-functional team to implement key deliverables within the product roadmap, including product management, project management, design, and operations. You will report to a Senior Software Development Manager.

This is a hybrid position based in Seattle, WA. Team members are expected to work in-office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), with remote work on Monday and Friday.

Job Responsibilities

[30%] Manage performance, coach, and steward career development for a small team (4-5 engineers) of engineers

  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. 
  • Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
  • Helps employees identify areas for growth and implement strategies to allow them to foster success.

[30%] Work with Managers and Product Managers on the execution of immediate/short-term projects

  • Drive product alignment across the team.
  • Able to clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects to deliver on time.
  • Build story relationships with product managers and stakeholders that enable  cross functional communication and collaboration. 

[40%] Technical Leadership

  • Responsibilities of a working manager balancing leadership duties with hands-on technical contributions to help deliver against planned work.
  • Lead a small team of SDEs to deliver technology solutions that meet business and engineering needs. 
  • Acts as a guide to employees and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Able to dive deeply into technical details (e.g., dependencies, design choices, operability, testability, etc.) with engineers and drive a constructive design discussion.
  • Capable of reviewing code and ensuring the team is following architectural standards and software development best practices.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Software Development Manager with 2+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture and software development best practices.
  • Strong quantitative data analysis and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current industry technologies involved in software construction and how to apply them to solve problems. 
  • Startup and Supply Chain experience is a plus.
  • Warehouse Management System Experience is a plus.

The salary range for this role is $172,500 to $228,500 depending, in part, on candidate location. Recruiting will confirm the specific range for the candidate location in the initial phone screen. All employees receive company equity as part of their compensation package.
