Description of Task to be Performed:
In this role, you will contribute to the development of secure, mission‑critical applications used by federal law enforcement, including case‑tracking systems, evidence‑processing tools, and investigative‑support platforms. Working under the guidance of senior developers, you’ll apply foundational programming skills and learn to implement reliable, maintainable software that complies with federal security standards.
You will contribute as a key member of a collaborative engineering team, working closely with senior developers, forensic specialists, and crypto SMEs to build features and tools essential to the program’s mission.
You will gain hands‑on experience with modern development practices—writing clean code, participating in design discussions, supporting testing and debugging, and learning how to build software that withstands demanding operational environments. You’ll follow disciplined engineering processes, work within DevSecOps pipelines, and help integrate new features and improvements used daily by investigators and analysts.
This role is ideal for a junior engineer who enjoys learning, collaborating, and growing in a mission‑focused environment where your contributions directly support national‑security and law‑enforcement operations.
Work location: Work is mostly remote, with occasional visits to customer and/or corporate locations in DC/Northern Virginia. Applicants who do not currently reside within commuting distance to these locations should describe how they would satisfy any onsite requirements. Remote status is subject to change at the customer’s direction, but is expected to continue.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain application features under guidance from senior developers.
- Assist with software requirements, design, testing, and maintenance tasks.
- Use modern programming tools, version control, and secure‑coding practices.
- Support debugging, documentation, and sprint activities.
- Work within DevSecOps pipelines and government‑compliant development workflows.
- Troubleshoot issues and support system integration tasks.
Required Qualifications:
- Software‑development experience, working under general supervision with knowledge of commonly used concepts and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field
- Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals, secure coding, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to applications supporting sensitive data or investigative workflows beneficial.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail
- Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for a Secret clearance. DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) suitability is required to begin support. Following EOD approval, candidates will be processed for, and must successfully obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security+ or equivalent baseline certification.
- AWS or Azure professional certifications.
- Agile/Scrum certifications.
- Experience with containers, microservices, or distributed systems.

- Active DHS EOD suitability
