The Role
As a Software Developer, you will design and implement applications for embedded systems, build test setups, and collaborate across teams to develop aerospace software solutions.
Summary Generated by Built In

Ubiq Aerospace is a Trondheim-based deep tech startup on an ambitious growth journey. We develop next-generation ice protection systems and smart aerostructures for aircraft operating in the world’s harshest weather. This is just the beginning of our story and we are eager to continue developing our products and our team.

We are now looking for a skilled Software Developer to join our Software Chapter and strengthen our embedded systems team. We’re searching for someone who is technically strong, collaborates well and has a genuine interest in embedded systems and electronics. We believe the right person is energized by hard problems and complex challenges. You also enjoy being close to the product and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.

What you will be working on

You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing and validation. This role is not limited to writing code and we are looking for someone who enjoys combining software with practical, hands-on engineering work.

Responsibilities will include

  • Designing and implementing applications for embedded systems

  • Designing and building test setups for embedded systems

  • Contributing to the software chapter, evaluating and developing the workflow

  • Playing an important role in our projects on software related topics

  • Working closely with electronics and hardware chapters to deliver a complete product

Our Software team develops real-time embedded systems running on STM32 microcontrollers, using modern C++, and our development environment includes:

  • Custom-built toolchain running in Docker containers

  • Debian-based linux environments (Debian & Ubuntu)

  • Interconnected systems communicating over CAN bus using DroneCAN protocol

  • GUI development using ImGUI for control, monitoring, logging, and configuration

We believe the right person is someone who

  • Can quickly understand and contribute to an existing codebase

  • Will actively contribute to improving workflows and code quality

  • Is both analytical and practical - comfortable at the workbench as well as behind a keyboard

  • Is open-minded and values constructive feedback

  • Enjoys collaborating across technical disciplines

What believe we’re looking for experience wise

Required:

  • Strong experience with C++ (modern C++ preferred)

  • Experience with or strong interest in real-time embedded systems

  • Basic understanding of electronics

  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment

Valued experience:

  • STM32 development

  • CAN bus / DroneCAN

  • Docker-based toolchains

  • GUI development (e.g., ImGUI)

  • Experience building or debugging hardware test setups
