A Little About Us:
Yahoo Mail is the second largest Email provider in the world with a very large number of active users, and thus very high throughput and scale. Digital Transformation is a highly critical multi-year initiative for Yahoo Mail, as part of which, we are modernizing our current tech stack on a public cloud while building new cloud-native components, systems, and tools to support a wide range of core features and functionality. As a result, we need highly qualified engineers to design, automate, and operate scalable Mail Infrastructure on the public cloud for a large number of Mail services and components.
A Lot About You:
You are a self-starter with a commitment to building, automating, and operating infrastructure and platforms on the public cloud at scale. You think in terms of automation, reliability, and repeatability, and you're happiest when you've eliminated manual toil through code. You maintain an adaptive, AI-forward mindset, continuously looking for ways to leverage modern developer tools to increase team velocity. You are comfortable working in a dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and learnings, and to prioritize multiple tasks and challenges in order to keep pace with an innovative and changing product and technical landscape. Your strong technical background, automation mindset, and clear communication skills will serve you well in this role, as will your comfort working with our high-energy team.
Your Day:

• Design, build, and operate large-scale cloud infrastructure, platforms, and services, using Kubernetes-based orchestration solutions.

• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) — such as Terraform — to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure and services.

• Build CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling to streamline deployments and improve reliability.

• Write automation and tooling primarily in Python, utilizing approved AI-assisted programming tools (such as Amazon Q Developer or Gemini Code Assist) to accelerate code generation, syntax optimization, and test coverage.

• Conduct thorough peer reviews of cloud configurations, infrastructure policies, and code—ensuring the verification, security, and quality of both human-authored and AI-assisted outputs.

• Work seamlessly in both individual and team settings on innovative infrastructure technologies.

• Participate in a culture of learning through design discussions and technical reviews.

You Must Have:

• BS/M.S. in Computer Science preferred along with 3+ years of experience.

• Solid hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS/Azure).

• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in Python for automation and tooling.

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.

• Demonstrated familiarity with or interest in utilizing generative AI developer tools (e.g., AI pair-programmers, code completion assistants) to streamline daily coding workflows and reduce time-to-delivery.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Structured thinker, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with observability tooling (Cloud Monitoring, Datadog, etc.).

• Working knowledge of Java (for collaborating with development teams).
