Join Torch Technologies, a forefront innovator in advanced technology solutions, as a Software Design Engineer Intern for Summer 2026. This internship is an excellent opportunity for engineering students who are eager to apply their academic. Interns will work under the mentorship of experienced professionals and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technological solutions supporting government and defense customers.
During this internship, you will have the opportunity to:
- Gain hands-on experience in software design
- Support the design, development, and testing of software tools and applications
- Collaborate with team members to enhance system functionality, usability, and reliability while gaining practical experience applying software engineering principles in a development environment.
Duration and Location
- Duration: 13-week summer internship (May 4, 2026 – August 7, 2026)
- Location: Huntsville, Alabama
- Schedule: Full-time
During your internship, you may:
- Assist with implementation of software components
- Develop and improving graphical user interfaces
- Handle structured data such as JSON
- Support debugging and documentation activities
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Prior Torch Technologies internship experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Programming in Python, Java, C, and C++
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- GUI Development (e.g., Java Swing or similar frameworks)
- Structured Data Handling (e.g., JSON serialization/deserialization)
Preferred knowledge/skills:
- Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as VS Code, IntelliJ, or Eclipse
- Source Control Platforms such as GitHub
- Problem Solving and Analytical Thinking
- Collaborative Software Development
- Technical Documentation
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Actively enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited educational institution
- In good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Ability to commit to a full-time schedule for the duration of the internship
