Job Description:

Software Architect / Tech Lead

Department Mission

  • This position will be System Architect of PMT Platform or Toolchain for PMT (Process, Methodology and Toolchains) solution.
  • This position will serve as Software Architect and Tech Lead, responsible for driving software architecture design, infrastructure architecture planning, and technical leadership across the engineering team. The role owns the end-to-end architecture strategy — from application layer to underlying infrastructure — and ensures engineering excellence through hands-on code review, mentoring of junior developers, and establishment of technical standards. The delivered architecture solutions should be compliant with all related regulations and standards such as Security, QA, Data Protection, and IT governance. Provide a robust, scalable, and maintainable technical foundation that enables rapid, reliable delivery.

Responsibilities
Own the overall software architecture design — define system boundaries, module decomposition, service contracts, data models, and integration patterns across the platform.

  • Lead infrastructure architecture design — design and evolve the cloud infrastructure, networking, container orchestration, observability, and deployment pipelines to support production-grade reliability and scalability.
  • Drive technical decisions and solution trade-offs — evaluate alternatives, establish architectural principles, and document Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for key design choices.
  • Conduct regular code reviews — set and enforce coding standards, review critical code changes, ensure clean code principles, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Mentor and develop junior developers — provide 1-on-1 technical coaching, guide career growth, pair program on complex features, and elevate the team's overall technical competency.
  • Define and maintain technical standards — establish guidelines for code quality, testing strategy, API design, security practices, and performance baselines.
  • Enable CI/CD and DevOps practices — design and implement automated build, test, and deployment pipelines; advocate for continuous delivery and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Establish and monitor Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) — define SLAs/SLOs for availability, performance, scalability, security, and operability; put in place monitoring and alerting.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders — align technical roadmap with business goals, translate product requirements into architectural solutions.
  • Lead incident response and post-mortem processes — root-cause analysis, architectural improvements, and prevention strategies for production issues.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in architecture or technical leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems or cloud-native applications.
  • Hands-on coding experience across multiple languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, C#, TypeScript).
  • Experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure (AWS / Azure / GCP) with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent).
  • Working within a fast-evolving, agile environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of software design patterns, system architecture styles (microservices, event-driven, serverless), and API design (REST, gRPC, GraphQL)
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture — networking, load balancing, service mesh, observability (logging, metrics, tracing), and disaster recovery
  • Proficient with clean code principles and code review best practices; ability to give constructive, actionable feedback
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation)
  • Proficient with multiple build systems (Maven, Gradle, CMake, npm, Go modules, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of software quality assurance principles, testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E), and test automation
  • Excellent knowledge of data architecture — relational and NoSQL databases, message queues, caching strategies
  • Familiarity with security best practices (OAuth2, mTLS, secrets management, compliance frameworks)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills — able to explain complex architecture to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven mentoring ability — experience growing junior/mid-level engineers into senior contributors
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking; innovative and creative in approach
  • Excellent personal organization and time management skills
  • Passionate about software craftsmanship and engineering excellence
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); Chinese is required. German or other languages are a plus.
