We’re looking for a Software Application Developer with strong JavaScript experience who can help build mission critical capabilities for a largescale data science platform.
The ideal candidate has strong full stack development experience, solid scripting skills, and a collaborative mindset for working with end users and partners across the community. You will help shape and enhance a high-profile, large-scale data science platform that supports thousands of users. Your work will include designing, building, and deploying solutions tailored to the needs of data scientists and key stakeholders, enabling data science, data engineering, and AI/ML workflows across the ecosystem.

The location of this job is Herndon, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Full Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain web applications and services
- UI & API Engineering: Develop intuitive, responsive user interfaces and reliable backend APIs that scale across the platform.
- Collaboration & Delivery: Work closely with product owners, and platform engineers to deliver high-quality features and enhancements.
- Performance & Integration: Support performance optimization, troubleshooting, and integration with other platform components and services.
- Documentation & Tracking: Contribute to clear, maintainable documentation in Confluence and Jira to support ongoing development.
- Quality & Best Practices: Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience developing software applications or similar technical systems.
- Strong proficiency in all of the following technologies: React, Java, Javascript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, PostgreSQL / MySQL / MariaDB, Linux / Bash, AWS (EC2, S3, etc.).
- Background working with largescale or distributed systems.
- Experience with Git based code repositories (GitLab, GitHub, or similar).
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, testing, and version control.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired Experience:
- Exposure to data science, data engineering, or AI/ML workflows.
- Experience with containerization or orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with distributed databases and streaming tools (Hadoop, Spark, Yarn, Hive, Trino).
- Understanding of data access control models, including Role Based Access Control (RBAC) and Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC).
- Familiarity with Anaconda
- Familiarity with Ansible

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
