DESCRIPTION: The mission of the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate (BSA) is to win the hearts and minds of non-Jews and Jews through powerful positive messaging and partnerships, motivating and equipping them to be defenders of and upstanders for Jews. BSA focuses on spreading the Blue Square and associated programs to spur action by people of all backgrounds. Working with a network of partners, BSA leverages unique monitoring technology to drive effective rapid response to Jewish hate and all hate, in addition to proactive programs that galvanize popular support for the Jewish community.

SUMMARY:  The Social Media Specialist will support and execute BSA’s social media content strategy across key digital platforms. This role will take a more active role in content development, platform management, campaign execution, and performance reporting, while collaborating closely with internal creative teams and external partners. The Specialist will help drive audience engagement through platform-native storytelling, trend-informed content creation, and day-to-day management of BSA’s social channels.

The ideal candidate has experience working with brand social channels, strong creative instincts, knowledge of emerging social trends, and the ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Create, develop and publish of daily, dynamic, high-quality social content to core platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and Snapchat, including designing graphics and video editing
  2. Collaborate with internal teams to develop content aligned with campaign goals and audience strategies
  3. Monitor social trends, cultural moments, and creators relevant to BSA mission; translate insights into engaging content opportunities
  4. Support paid social initiatives through content ideation, asset coordination, and campaign execution support.
  5. Support community management by engaging audiences and maintaining brand voice across platforms
  6. Track performance metrics and optimize content based on insights and reporting
  7. Assist in maintaining social content calendars and help ensure timely execution of campaigns and content initiatives.
  8. Identify opportunities to increase engagement through emerging trends, creators, and platform features.
  9. Ideate and create content with influencers that serve the mission of the organization
  10. Special projects and assignments as business dictates
  11. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, or related discipline
  • 2-4 plus years’ experience in brand marketing, social or digital media or equivalent
  • Technical expertise operating and managing major social media accounts, including on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat and YouTube platforms required. Strong experience operating on TikTok, as well as trending or emerging social platforms preferred.
  • Strong understanding of social media landscape, particularly among millennial and Gen Z users, and demonstrated ability to adapt storytelling accordingly.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with copywriting both short and long form content.
  • Experience with video editing software such as: Instagram Edits, Capcut, or Adobe Premier Pro
  • Proficient in Canva/Adobe Express
  • Paid social experience preferred but not needed.
  • A passion for social media, and online advocacy and communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively coordinate content across multiple platforms and deadlines.
  • Creative, highly organized, with the ability to prioritize, and work well against tight delivery timeframes.
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.
  • Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
