We are looking for a passionate Social Media Intern who is eager to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience in the beauty and social media space. In this role, you will support the Social Media Team and collaborate closely with our Marketing Team, gaining exposure to content creation, social strategy, influencer marketing, and campaign execution.

You will contribute to a variety of social media initiatives, including weekly reporting, content creation, creator and brand outreach, concept development, trend research, and competitive analysis. The ideal candidate is highly creative, social-first, and excited to bring fresh ideas to the table.

You should have experience creating and editing content on iPhone and feel comfortable both behind and in front of the camera.

Your life at MAËLYS will look like…

  • Create engaging social-first content across MAËLYS’ social channels, with a focus on TikTok and Instagram, including video, photo, and written copy.
  • Stay ahead of the latest social media trends, viral moments, trending audio, and emerging platform features.
  • Collaborate closely with the Social Media Team to brainstorm and develop content concepts, campaigns, and trend-driven activations.
  • Monitor the beauty and social media landscape, bringing fresh ideas and cultural insights to the team.
  • Conduct competitive and trend research, sharing key findings and recommendations.
  • Support day-to-day social media initiatives and assist with additional projects as needed.

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Digital Content, or a related field.
  • Have previous internship or hands-on experience in social media, content creation, beauty, marketing, or video production (preferred but not required).
  • Are passionate about social media, digital culture, and the beauty industry.
  • Have a strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and emerging social platforms, with a keen eye for trends and viral content.
  • Are proficient in Canva, CapCut, Microsoft Office, and other content creation tools; familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
  • Possess strong content creation, editing, and copywriting skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Are highly organized and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Are proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
  • Can adapt quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Are a creative storyteller who understands what makes social-first content engaging, shareable, and culturally relevant.
  • Are based in New York City and available to work from the office 2–3 days per week.

Additional Details

  • Internship commitment: 2–3 days per week (flexible hours based on school schedule).
  • Compensation: $16.50 per hour.

Skills Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Digital Content, or a related field.
  • Experience creating and editing content on iPhone and comfortable both behind and in front of the camera.
  • Proficiency in Canva, CapCut, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and emerging social platforms with a keen eye for trends and viral content.

  • Previous internship or hands-on experience in social media, content creation, beauty, marketing, or video production.
