The Social Media and Public Relations Intern is part of the Sales and Business Services department, which resides on the Marketing and Communications team and reports to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to gain experience while providing support to essential Marketing functions related to brand, content, social media, graphic design, and media relations. This position will provide exceptional service to all customers, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and retention, and representing CIS in a professional and courteous manner.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the development and execution of the overall CIS marketing strategy

  • Assist in creating, scheduling, and publishing content across all CIS-owned social media channels

  • Monitor social media channels for engagement opportunities and respond to comments or messages in a timely, professional manner

  • Support campaign execution by drafting posts, creating visuals and/or video, and aligning content with cybersecurity trends and CIS messaging

  • Conduct research on industry news, competitor activity, and trending topics to inform content ideas

  • Track and report on social media performance metrics such as engagement, reach, and follower growth

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to brainstorm creative ideas for increasing brand awareness and thought leadership

  • Assist in repurposing long-form content (e.g., blogs, white papers, etc.) into bite-sized social media assets

  • Stay up to date with platform updates, algorithm changes, and best practices for organic and paid social media

  • Build, update, and maintain targeted media lists

  • Assist in writing and distributing press releases

  • Assist with distribution of materials, pitching stories, and preparing subject matter experts for media interviews

  • Track media coverage, identify industry trends, and compile reports on mentions

  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What You'll Need: 

  • 2 years of study in Communications, Marketing, or a related field

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Proficient in Canva Design

  • Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite and comfortable designing (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and a bonus to have editing skills (Premiere, After Effects)

  • Knowledgeable with Marketing functions and social media platforms

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with grammar and spelling

  • Organized with the ability to handle multiple projects within tight time constraints

  • Strong communication, problem solving, collaboration, and analytical skills

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Experience with marketing tools including Sprout Social, Pardot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and others

  • Familiarity with databases like Muck Rack, EIN Presswire, and Talkwalker

Compensation Range:

USD$18.27 - $22.33

Skills Required
