the job:

amika is looking for a curious, creative, culturally-fluent Social + Content Strategy Manager to join our growing Social & Community team full-time. This role is for someone who loves the strategy behind great social content as much as the content itself. You'll shape how amika shows up across our channels - turning brand and product moments into social ideas people genuinely want to watch, share, and talk about.

salary: $100,000 + bonus

location: Brooklyn, NY - 2 days a week onsite (must be based in + have the right to work in the US)

what you'll do:

Social Strategy (Primary Responsibility)

  • Partner closely with the Director to build the social strategy behind our campaigns and product launches, from first insight through to channel plan.
  • Working with the Director, define what each campaign should do on social, what success looks like, and which platforms carry which part of the story.
  • Set the content pillars and campaign beats that shape our always-on calendar.
  • Keep our channels feeling like one brand across categories, markets, and moments.

Creative & Content Development

  • Concept social-first ideas — formats, series, and one-offs — that sound like amika and show our products actually working.
  • Write clear, inspiring briefs for our creative team and creative partners, and stay close through production, review, and approvals.
  • Bring new formats, platform behaviors, and cultural moments to the team early, with a POV on what we should do about them.

Creators & Campaigns

  • Partner with Influencer Marketing on who we work with for each campaign, what we ask of them, and how their content lives across our channels.
  • Build creator work into campaigns from the start, so it feels like part of the idea rather than an add-on.
  • Help bring our stylist community into our storytelling — they're one of the most important voices we have.

Mentorship

  • Work closely with junior members of the team, supporting their development and helping ensure high-quality execution across channels.
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and guidance in partnership with the Director, helping the team strengthen their skills in content development, community management, and platform best practices.
  • Delegate thoughtfully — giving junior team members real ownership while keeping strategic oversight of the work.
  • Help foster a collaborative, curious team culture where people feel encouraged to bring ideas forward.

Performance & Insight

  • Look at how content is performing and turn it into a clear point of view on what we should do next.
  • Own the learnings from each campaign and carry them into the next one.
  • Share findings in a way that's useful to partners across the business, not just to social.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Community Coordinator, who owns day-to-day community management, publishing, and the always-on calendar.
  • Partner with Brand, Creative, Product Marketing, E-commerce, and Retail so social lands when and where it needs to.

Growth Opportunities (First 12–18 Months)

As the role develops, the Social + Content Strategy Manager may:

  • Take the lead on a campaign execution end to end
  • Shape our approach to an emerging platform or format
  • Deepen ownership of the creator roster and how we work with our stylist community.
  • Help define how we plan, brief, and measure social across the wider organization.

must haves:

  • 5–7 years in social media or content, including real ownership of strategy for campaigns and launches.
  • You've concepted work, and can point to ideas of yours that communities have shared.
  • You know TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts well enough to know how differently each one behaves.
  • You've worked with creators, and you know what makes those partnerships good — and what makes them fall apart.
  • Comfortable with data. You can read a report, find what matters in it, and make a recommendation.
  • You have taste, and opinions about beauty and culture you're happy to argue for.
  • You've mentored or supported junior teammates, and you liked it.
  • Beauty, haircare, or another category with a passionate community is a strong plus.

What We Do

Hi there, we’re amika. A friend to hair, hairstylists, her, him, them and you. 10 collections created for every hair type, texture and style - all hair is welcome. We were kind and clean before it was a thing. Cruelty-free, Vegan and free from harsh chemicals like sulfates, parabens, dea, mit, mcit and over 1,300 ingredients on our “no list”. Going greener is top of mind, so we’ve partnered with Terracycle to recycle the unrecyclable and will begin switching to 90% PCR bottles by 2021. Founded in Brooklyn, we’re a collective of creatives, hair stylists, chemists and product enthusiasts. We create the style, products and packaging; take our own photographs and make our own films. We write our own copy and we do our own marketing, sales, finance and education.
