Responsibilities / Tasks
As a Mechanical Site Supervisor, you are the central point of reference on site. You ensure that installation activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with GEA standards and project requirements.
- Take full responsibility for site installation management
- Manage site logistics, including deliveries and on-site material handling
- Define and manage the work breakdown structure (WBS) of site activities
- Supervise and coordinate assembly teams and subcontractors
- Act as the responsible person for assembly quality
- Ensure compliance with time schedules and continuously monitor project status
- Monitor site costs and budget, report deviations and risks to the Project Manager
- Coordinate assembly activities with:
- Design / engineering departments, including finalizing design studies on site when required
- Customers, ensuring smooth interfaces and alignment on site execution
- Manage contractors and ensure contractual and HSE compliance
- Report site labor through timesheet records
- Ensure correct management and availability of tools and site commodities
- Hand over a SAT-approved plant to the commissioning engineers
- Prepare and manage site documentation
- Be responsible for site activity reporting, including:
- Liaise with local stakeholders (R&C’s, HSE specialists, consultants, authorities as required)
- Estimate assembly hours and updated planning for scope changes during installation (change orders)
- Identify risks and improvement opportunities to optimize execution
- Ensure proper return of experience (lessons learned) and manage:
- Non-conformity reports
- Improvement suggestions
When not assigned to a construction site, you will support installation preparation and continuous improvement activities:
- Plan site activities ahead of installation:
- Activity breakdown and sequencing
- Schedule development
- Material needs
- RFQs and logistical preparation
- Support the selection of installation companies:
- Audits
- User Requirement Specifications (URS)
- RFQs and Purchase Orders
- Provide erection cost inputs to the sales team during the tender phase
Your Profile / Qualifications
- Strong appetency for site-based work and field execution
- Ability to think ahead and plan site activities, including:
- Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Scheduling and sequencing
- Risk assessment
- Progress monitoring (EVM, KPIs)
- Strong technical expertise in on-site activities, including:
- Mechanical and piping installation
- Welding supervision
- Lifting operations
- Cost estimation and productivity analysis
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate subcontractor teams
- Capability to maintain effective cooperation, motivation, and team spirit in multicultural environments
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Self-driven, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work successfully in remote and virtual project environments
- Solid experience with IT tools and standard software, including:
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, OneNote, Word, Excel)
- Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM viewers is preferred
- Experience with MS Project is a plus
- Technical degree or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering or Piping Installation
- Project Management training is considered an advantage
- 5 to 10 years of experience in site installation management
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in:
- Piping design and installation
- Lifting operations and heavy equipment handling
- Experience in the Dairy or Food processing industry is a plus
- French: Full professional working proficiency
- English: Full professional working proficiency
- Spanish is a plus
