Job Purpose
The Site Security Manager (SSM) will be responsible for the management, leadership and delivery of Control Risks’ commitment to Al Majal Business Park’s (AMBP) facilities in Berjisiya, Basra, southern Iraq. The SSM role is an embedded position within the client’s organisation at AMBP, working directly to the client’s general manager at the facility. The SSM is required to complement the client’s existing process hierarchy and enable their commercial operations, whilst providing credible and measured security risk management advice to improve the existing commercial operation, whilst managing a medium sized local national guard force. Additionally, its importance to Control Risks’ brand and reputation cannot be understated. It is a client facing role beyond the scope of the existing regions commercial portfolio and acts as an interface with all AMBP’s residents and commercial partners, often being a potential client’s only exposure to Control Risks in southern Iraq.

Tasks and responsibilities
Including but not limited to
- Provides leadership and management to AMBP’s guard force the ensuring the effective provision of security to facilities resident sand stakeholders.
- Regularly assesses and performance manages his team the guard force at AMBP; identifying any gaps in an individual’s capability and providing relevant training to help them improve.
- Provides training and mentoring to the local guard force as specified by Control Risks and the AMBP hierarchy commensurate with the minimum standards required and exceeding them wherever possible.
- Ensures that the guard force at AMBP comply with Control Risks’ policies such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption and Voluntary Principles on Human Rights.
- Enforces minimum standards in all security duties including static guarding, access control, communications procedures and weapon handling.
- Records the allocation of resources to the local guard force and ensures these are well maintained and used effectively.
- Implements and maintains accurate training records for employees.
- Acts as advisor on all aspects of security to the AMBP hierarchy, where appropriate.
- Identifies non-compliance with Control Risks’ and / or Client’s policies and procedures and escalates through management appropriately.
- Assesses the security situation as it applied to the Client’s sites and areas of operations and works with the regional management team to make recommendations in line with the current intelligence and analysis.
- Identifies the conditions that will influence the physical safety of the Client’s personnel and their operations and liaises with the management team in order to aid strategic operational decision-making.
Requirements
Knowledge and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ Military or Policing experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ hostile environment experience.
- Experience of managing local national personnel in a hostile environment.
- Experience of working in a client facing role in a hostile environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of Control Risks’ organisational policies and SOPs.
- Fluency in English Language (CEFR C2 or equivalent).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Power Point & Excel.
Qualifications and specialist skills
- Minimum of an accredited L3 Close Protection certification
- Minimum of FPOS IV/ FREC medical certification
- Project Management Qualification (PRINCE 2, PMP, Agile, MSP etc)
- Occupational Health & Safety Certification (IOSH, NEBOSH etc)
- Minimum of an accredited L4 Security Management certificatio
Skills Required
- Minimum 5 years of military or policing experience
