The Human Resources Manager serves as the primary HR leader for our family of companies, acting as a vital bridge between local operational needs and Silver Bay Seafoods corporate standards. This role functions as both a strategic partner to leadership and a champion for a diverse workforce across multiple entities. The HR Manager provides essential on-site coordination, "boots on the ground" support, and compliance oversight, including multi-state regulatory management to ensure a productive and legal work environment across all sites. A successful manager will serve as a regulatory expert, ensuring that corporate initiatives are implemented with local relevance and legal compliance and that HR records are always audit-ready. The HR Manager must possess high integrity to navigate sensitive investigations and employee relations issues with neutrality and professional composure.

Essential Functions/Qualifications

The responsibilities of the position include the following:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees on all workplace matters, fostering a culture of open communication.
• Conduct thorough workplace investigations and provide guidance on corrective actions and terminations in alignment with company policy.
• Support performance review processes and coach managers on performance management techniques and proper documentation.
• Promote employee engagement initiatives and ensure the consistent application of company policies.
• Maintain personnel files, employment verifications, and strict I-9 compliance.
• Communicate and implement HR policies and procedures in accordance with the corporate office.
• Ensure site compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Support internal and external audits, reporting, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Manage local benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and open enrollment processes.
• Administer and monitor leave programs, including FMLA, state leave laws, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation coordination.
• Respond to employee benefit inquiries and coordinate with benefits vendors/corporate teams as needed.
• Support payroll processing in coordination with the Corporate Payroll team. Review and ensure accuracy of timecards, missed punches, and time-off entries.
• Monitor wage and hour compliance (overtime and state regs).
• Support site safety programs in partnership with operations and Corporate Compliance leadership. Help coordinate safety training, incident reporting, and support return-to-work or modified duty programs.
• Work in tandem with the Corporate TA Manager to execute localized recruitment strategies that align with broader Silver Bay Seafoods branding and goals.
• Lead on-site interviewing and selection processes, partner with the TA Manager on high-volume seasonal hiring surges or specialized technical roles.
• Oversee the local onboarding experience across our family of companies, ensuring new hires are seamlessly integrated into their respective site cultures while completing all corporate-required compliance training and documentation.
• Other duties to help support teams and entire organization.

Education and Experience

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HR Management or Generalist leadership role.
• Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment; experience in a "satellite" location reporting to a corporate headquarters.
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of Washington, California, and Alaska employment laws preferred.
• Certification: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP required.

Work Environment and Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site position headquarters at the Orca Bay Foods facility in West Seattle, WA. To effectively lead on-site HR initiatives and provide high-touch support to our operational teams, a consistent presence is required Monday through Friday. While primarily based in West Seattle, this role supports our broader family of companies, and the HR Manager may be required to report to or visit other locations as needed to meet business demands.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Mental Activities
The employee is frequently required to use interpersonal and teamwork skills. The employee needs to be able to discern details on timesheets and reconcile appropriate calculations. The employee needs to regularly demonstrate attention to detail. The employee is occasionally required to use creativity, independent judgment, discretion, and problem analysis.

Salary Disclosure
The typical base pay range for this role is $119,765 -$156,035 per year. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.

• Paid Time Off (PTO), Sick & Paid Holidays: Silver Bay recognizes the importance of employees having the opportunity to recreate, rejuvenate, and attend to non-work matters. As a full-time employee, you will accrue 4.62 hours every bi-weekly pay period of Vacation, up to 120/hours/3 weeks per year. In addition, you will accrue 1 hour of Sick Time for every 30 hours worked.
Other Compensation: Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
