Description
The Site Controller will report directly to Corporate Controller and will manage a small but growing accounting group for a Maquiladora, which consists of two factories, one in the US and one in MX. The successful candidate should be comfortable as a “doer” on day-to-day accounting and finance operations as we continue to scale up. The site controller should be experienced in all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cost accounting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close process and assist with preparation and consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities.
- Perform reporting activities throughout the month on margins, absorption and other metrics to ensure accuracy of gross margins.
- Review the work of accounting staff, including complex calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and periodically report budget to actual variances to internal clients.
- Manage inventory including physical to perpetual to general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, audit explanations, and standard costs.
- Manage working capital and coordinate with Site leadership to understand inventory needs to meet sales commitment. Monitor cash balances within timing of A/P and payroll.
- Assist with managing and complying with US and Mexican reporting requirements (Annex 24 Maquiladora) and tax filings.
- Audit cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and reports on root causes and progress toward making improvements for better accuracy.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems and how transactions flow and impact the relevant subsidiary ledgers and general ledger.
- Represent Finance on ERP enhancement initiatives
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Coordinate annual financial audit activities.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance with US GAAP, as needed.
- Supervise and/or mentor team which consists of A/P, Payroll, accounting, and import/export coordinator.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or CMA designation, and/or MBA is preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in financial accounting/cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with the use of ERP systems. Experience with Epicor is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
