At Google DeepMind, we've built a unique culture and work environment where long-term ambitious research can flourish. We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Program Manager to join our team and contribute to development of groundbreaking silicon for machine learning acceleration.

About us:

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

About you:

We seek out individuals who thrive in ambiguity and who are willing to help out with whatever moves silicon design and architecture forward. We regularly need to invent novel solutions to problems, and often change course if our ideas don’t work out, so flexibility and adaptability to work on any project is a must.

The Role:

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Silicon Technical Program Manager to join our technical infrastructure research hardware team. You will be responsible for driving our ASIC program execution with our external silicon vendor. You will work in close partnership with the overall program lead to ensure milestones are met, risks are managed, and communication is clear between our internal team and the vendor.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the day-to-day execution of the ASIC program, acting as the primary point of contact for the silicon vendor on program-level topics.
  • Develop, maintain, and track the detailed project schedule, highlighting critical paths and dependencies.
  • Proactively identify program risks and drive the development and execution of mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate technical deliverables and manage communication between the internal engineering team (Architecture, RTL, DV, PD) and the vendor.
  • Organize and lead regular program reviews, status meetings, and technical deep dives with the vendor.
  • Report program status, risks, and escalations to senior leadership and the overall program manager.
  • Ensure alignment on technical specifications, milestones, quality, and deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management, specifically for ASIC or silicon development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendors or partners in a silicon development program.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end ASIC development lifecycle (from architecture to tape-out).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical background in a silicon engineering discipline (e.g., Design, Verification, Physical Design).
  • Experience with advanced, large-scale SoC or ML accelerator programs.
  • PMP or similar program management certification.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment.

What We Do

We’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

Our long term aim is to solve intelligence, developing more general and capable problem-solving systems, known as artificial general intelligence (AGI).

Guided by safety and ethics, this invention could help society find answers to some of the world’s most pressing and fundamental scientific challenges.

We have a track record of breakthroughs in fundamental AI research, published in journals like Nature, Science, and more. Our programs have learned to diagnose eye diseases as effectively as the world’s top doctors, to save 30% of the energy used to keep data centres cool, and to predict the complex 3D shapes of proteins - which could one day transform how drugs are invented.
