The Role
Lead foundry-facing silicon photonics process integration and NPI from tape-out through qualification and ramp. Drive yield learning, failure analysis, process convergence, manufacturability, DOE/SPC-based improvements, and technology transfer while coordinating cross-functional teams and external foundry partners.
Summary Generated by Built In

We are looking for a Principal / Senior Silicon Photonics Process Engineer to lead process integration, NPI execution, and foundry collaboration for advanced silicon photonics platforms.

Based in Asia, you will serve as the primary technical interface with external foundry partners in Asia and internal design teams in the U.S., owning process development, yield optimization, manufacturability, and program delivery.

This is a fab-facing integration + program leadership role (not a design role).

  • Define and manage process development plans and technology roadmaps
  • Align design requirements with foundry capabilities

NPI, Yield & Manufacturing Execution

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) from tape-out through qualification (PRQ) and ramp
  • Own yield learning, failure analysis, and process convergence
  • Ensure manufacturability targets (yield, cost, cycle time, reliability)
  • Manage wafer lots, tracking schedule, risk, and quality

Program & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as primary fab contact for product integration
  • Interface with design (IPS), process, test, Q&R, planning, OSAT, and business units

Process Development & DFM

  • Define:
    • Process flows, integration schemes
    • Design rules and DFM guidelines
    • Process capability documentation

    • Yield optimization, DOE, SPC
    • Product lifecycle: NPI → qualification → ramp
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in coherent optics or datacenter interconnects
  • Proven track record in technology transfer & high-volume manufacturing
  • Familiarity with:
    • Cadence Virtuoso, OptoCompiler
    • Python, JMP, SQL for data analysis
