McClure Engineering is currently seeking SCCAF Intern to work alongside our talented engineers and designers dedicated to engineering excellence on a wide range of projects involving complex buildings, data centers and campus systems.? The ideal candidate will enjoy coordinating with the other disciplines and team members assigned to their projects as well as continued learning to ensure the best engineering solutions are provided.? The McClure team takes pride in the depth and breadth of knowledge on its bench and believes engineering excellence is driven by the fundamentals of math and science along with the intuition about all things mechanical/electrical.  

Description: 

Support the engineering team by preparing detailed electrical system drawings and documentation for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash (SCCAF) studies. This role involves creating from scratch or converting AutoCAD/PDF one-line diagrams into SKM Power Tools models, assisting with data entry, and producing technical reports that support electrical safety and compliance with NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584 standards. 

  • Convert electrical one-line diagrams into SKM models under the guidance of senior SCCAF staff. 
  • Assist in assembling Time-Current Curve (TCC) reports and coordination studies for overcurrent protective devices. 
  • Support the development of arc flash hazard analyses, including incident energy calculations and PPE recommendations. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system components, device settings, and field-collected data. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., Owners, Clients, Contractors, etc.) to ensure data accuracy and project alignment. 
  • Participate in quality control reviews of SKM model content and report outputs. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

 Educational Requirements and Qualifications 

  • In the process of obtaining an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. 
  • Proficiency AutoCAD or Revit; familiarity with SKM Power Tools is a strong plus. 
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and one-lines, short circuit behavior, protective device coordination, and arc flash principles. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions. 
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584). 
  • Exposure to electrical system studies or power system modeling. 
  • Ability to interpret electrical specifications, construction drawings, and equipment data sheets. 
  • Ability to sort through System Shop Drawings and Submittals to obtain specific equipment information to be utilized in power system modeling. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel with the ability to organize imported data and format for deliverable review. 
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu for PDF document review and markup. 

Work Environment 

  • Work environment is primarily indoors at firms’ facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.)  
  • While performing field work associated with this position employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights.  

Skills Required
