We are currently recruiting a SHE Business Partner to join our national team, based out of our Townsville location. This person will support our key Queensland sites, as well as our extensive field service team.

What you’ll do

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

  • Environment: Completing environmental inspections, completing required investigations.

  • Advisory and Strategy: Advise business stakeholders on safety, health, and environmental matters, contributing to the development and execution of the company’s SHE strategy and Zero Harm Behaviours program. Stay updated with SHE regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

  • Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to identify hazards and recommend mitigation measures. Support Line Management in implementing workplace changes for statutory compliance and provide detailed audit reports. Assist in developing and reviewing Site Emergency Management Plans.

  • Training & Development: Collaborate with Learning & Development teams to deliver training programs that ensure staff adherence to SHE policies. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement in safety, health, and environment.

  • Incident Management: Lead or support incident investigations, including ICAM investigations, to determine root causes and corrective actions. Act as Injury Management Coordinator, working with injured workers and managers to implement effective Return to Work strategies.

  • SHE Promotion: Champion the Weir Zero Harm behaviours program by advocating safety, health, and environmental awareness. Organise campaigns, events, and workshops to raise SHE awareness across operational sites.

  • Continuous Improvement: Review and update SHE procedures, analyse safety data to identify improvement areas, and support compliance monitoring.

  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with department heads, team leaders, external agencies, and customers. Collaborate with HR, Facilities, and Procurement to integrate SHE considerations into their operations.

  • Travel: Approximately one week of travel per month, including monthly trips to Rockhampton and quarterly visits to sites in South Australia.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

  • Minimum Cert IV in Safety or equivalent formal safety qualification, or equivalent experience.

  • Environmental / Sustainability certifications or willing to attain upon commencement.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in safety, health, and environment roles, preferably in heavy industrial, manufacturing, or mining environments.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.

  • Experience or training in ICAM incident investigations.

  • Excellent knowledge of SHE regulations, standards, and incident investigation techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to work onsite with a visible safety presence and support operational teams.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Return to Work Coordinator certification or willingness to obtain post-commencement.

  • ICAM certification or willingness to obtain post-commencement.

  • Exposure to ISO audit preparation and compliance activities.
