ServiceNow Technical Architect
Location: Virtual
Other Consideration: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Required)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile ServiceNow Solution Architect to join our team in support of a large-scale enterprise application initiative. This individual will play a central role in architecting robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions on the ServiceNow platform, including overseeing technical requirements, integrations, and low-code/no-code development strategy. You will collaborate closely with delivery leaders, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure that architectural decisions align with enterprise goals and platform best practices.
The output of this project team will include building efficient applications and workflows to reduce work duplication, simplify tools sprawl and generate better data to support the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the architecture powering major federal modernization efforts.
- Align product, engineering, and delivery teams under shared design standards.
- Translate complex business requirements into well-architected technical solutions.
- Coach teams to think like architects — systems-first, pattern-aware, and guardrail-driven.
- Lead design reviews, decompose monoliths, and rebuild confidence in platform engineering.
- Architect smart data and integration models using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, REST, CSDM, and CMDB.
- Embed with teams to ensure we’re building the right thing — and building it right.
- Translate chaos into clarity through reusable blueprints, models, and roadmaps.
- Modernize legacy instances into composable, upgrade-safe ecosystems.
- Apply table extension and LCNC scoped-app principles that enable autonomy without touching the core.
Required Qualifications:
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) — or mastery equal to it.
- Deep understanding of App Engine, IntegrationHub, Flow Designer, CSDM, CMDB, and platform security models.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale, multi-team ServiceNow architectures.
- Proven record of turning fragile, over-customized instances into modular, upgrade-safe systems.
- Bonus for experience with App Engine Studio, Process Mining, AI/ML integrations, or data governance frameworks.
- Experience in Agile delivery environments
What to expect in our Interview Process
- 30-minute conversation with the recruiter and hiring manager.
- Take-home exercise to complete and submit before the technical interview.
- 90-minute technical interview with a member of our development team covering:
- Culture & values discussion
- Architecture & problem-solving (review of your take-home exercise)
- Pair programming session
