SEO Manager

Forbes Advisor is a new initiative for consumers under the Forbes Marketplace umbrella that provides journalist- and expert-written insights, news and reviews on all things personal finance, health, business, and everyday life decisions. We do this by providing consumers with the knowledge and research they need to make informed decisions they can feel confident in, so they can get back to doing the things they care about most.

We are seeking an experienced SEO Manager to roll out and manage our SEO Research team. In this role you will be responsible for managing a team of SEO professionals that handles SEO tickets for the verticalized Core SEO team. This team will perform tasks such as keyword research, competitor research, content gap analysis, and optimization audits. Your role will involve creating streamlined processes, maintaining high-quality deliverables, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement in SEO research methodologies.

You will report to the Senior Technical SEO Manager and collaborate closely with the Core SEO Team to align research efforts with overarching SEO strategies.

Job Description

• Lead and manage a team of SEO professionals. Provide training, mentoring, and conduct performance evaluation to continually improve the teams SEO knowledge and skills

• Hire, onboard, and train new team members 

• Develop and implement processes to improve workflow, turnaround times, and quality control

• Manage ticketing workflow and assign SEO tasks effectively

• Ensure team output is accurate and aligned with SEO needs

• Communicate regularly with the Core SEO team (US ET time zone) on status of tickets and broader team needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in SEO with at least 2 years in a managerial role

• Experience performing SEO in a publishing or other content-focused role

• Strong understanding of SEO, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and competitor analysis

• Familiarity with common SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMRush, etc. 

• Proven ability to manage a large team and implement processes to maintain workflow and quality standards

• Ability to interpret and manipulate analytics data in spreadsheets via pivot tables and formulas 

• Excellent communication skills

• Strong project management skills
