SEO & AI Search Marketing Manager (m/f/d)

(full-time; 38.5 hrs./week; limited; 2 years)

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive search visibility strategy that spans both classic SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) — so Constructor University shows up both on Google and in AI answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews

  • Plan, brief, and coordinate the production of citation-ready content (articles, landing pages, study guides, comparison pieces) in collaboration with internal teams, faculty experts, and external writers — ensuring each piece is structured, fact-dense, and built to be cited by both search engines and AI tools

  • Perform ongoing keyword research, competitor analysis, AI citation tracking, and technical audits to identify opportunities and act on them — this includes monitoring how often we appear in AI answers vs. competitors, and where we're losing ground

  • Implement and maintain the technical foundations that make our website readable to AI — structured data (schema.org), OpenGraph, llms.txt, AI bot access in server logs — working closely with the web development team

  • Build off-site authority where AI engines look for facts — coordinate updates to Wikipedia, Wikidata, StudyPortals and similar directories; manage outreach to "best-of" ranking blogs and listicles in our verticals

  • Manage and optimize affiliate marketing programs and ranking-blog partnerships, including partner acquisition, communication, performance tracking, and campaign alignment

  • Monitor performance across both search engines and AI surfaces, analyze KPIs, and use data-driven insights to optimize future initiatives and continuously improve ROI

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with content creators, faculty, student recruitment teams, and student services to align messaging and outreach strategies

  • Support other marketing functions and initiatives as needed, contributing to a collaborative and results-oriented team environment

Your profile

  • A completed degree, preferably in Marketing, Digital Media, Business, Communications, or a related field — or equivalent experience

  • Hands-on experience in SEO (technical and content), with strong understanding of how AI search and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) work — or genuine curiosity and demonstrated learning in this area, even if formal experience is still building

  • Comfortable with structured data and technical concepts — schema markup, sitemaps, robots.txt, server log analysis — at least at the level of being able to brief a developer accurately and check that work shipped correctly

  • Experience briefing and editing content for search visibility — ideally including AI-assisted drafting workflows (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) where you direct, edit, and fact-check rather than write everything from scratch

  • Experience in affiliate marketing, partnership outreach, or media relations — this role involves pitching CU programs to ranking blog editors and journalists, so persuasive written outreach matters

  • Strong analytical skills; confident working with data, tracking tools, and marketing platforms (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEO platforms like Ahrefs or SEMrush, AI citation monitoring tools like Profound, Otterly, Peec or LLMrefs — or willingness to learn fast)

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Fluent in German is a plus.

  • Experience in independent project management — planning, scheduling, budget control, process coordination

  • A structured and independent working style, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and rapidly growing university
