Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer on the Command and Launch Infrastructure Integration team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites. The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms that are verified through test/analysis
- Develop CAD models visualizing various design solutions
- Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs
- Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives
- Integrate Infrastructure Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes
- Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others
- Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications
- Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release
Basic Qualifications
- Requires U.S. citizenship with an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance or higher adjudicated within the past 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of related experience; a Masters degree with 6 years; or a PhD with 4 years
- Requires experience with system integration and test principles
- Requires experience with development and qualification testing, including test planning, execution, and reporting phases of test
- Requires experience preparing and presenting technical status to leadership and customers
Preferred Qualifications
- ICBM Experience
- Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
- Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
- Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)
- Experience with Teamcenter or Teamcenter CPLM Product Lifecycle Management Tool
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
