Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manager Software Engineering 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug software/system applications.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software.
  • Collaborate with a team of software engineers in an Agile environment to meet critical milestones.
  • Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met.
  • Understand and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment meeting technical and compliance requirements.

This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will be responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs. He/she will also be responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.

The candidate will also be responsible for leading a team of system software engineers, providing guidance, and assigning work regarding the system software architecture & requirements of GNC software to ensure alignment with system architecture.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience software development experience or master’s with 6 years of experience or 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance , current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Experience with Agile principles to include Kanban, Scrum
  • Experience in software development using languages such as C++, Python
  • Experience with MBSE, software design & requirement management

Preferred qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience leading Software Engineering teams
  • At least 1-year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks
  • Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers
  • Able to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans and then execute those plans
  • Experience with executing software development processes
  • CAM certification or willingness to obtain within first 6 months
  • Familiarization with DO178 and process that covers software development lifecycle
  • Understands best practices required for the development of Safety Critical Software Development

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
