Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Physical Security Hardware Design Manager 2.  This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.  


What You’ll Get To Do: 


  • Manage the physical security hardware design scope as the program manager including the planning and program performance
  • Lead the execution of designing, procuring, testing, and qualifying the Physical Security hardware solution for the Sentinel weapon system
  • Executing all aspects of Physical Security hardware scope, including: maturing the technical baseline; managing cost, schedule, and risk as the CAM for all hardware scope; ensuring readiness and compliance of Physical Security design in preparation for PDR, CDR, and Qualification; driving stakeholder consensus for complex designs; and communicating project status to program leadership.
  • Establish a technical vision for a team of ~12 engineers and will set the priorities for the team's execution
  • Interface with a cross-domain community of systems, software, and test engineers, and will be a key stakeholder in multiple hardware lab environments
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of junior and senior engineers and foster a culture of strong technical rigor and professional development
  • As a functional manager, the position will manage a team of directly reporting engineers in the areas of career development, performance feedback, goal setting, training, and engagement. The manager will hold regular 1on1 meetings with their team members and provide regular performance feedback and coaching. The manager will be the primary liaison between their engineering staff and the full breadth of engagement, training, and benefit resources at Northrop Grumman.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.


You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field plus 8 years of experience, or Master's Degree in STEM field plus 6 years of experience
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
  • 5+ years of experience with Physical Security hardware systems
  • Experience with earned value management as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for a complex system
  • Experience designing COTS hardware systems

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

  • Technical leadership experience in a dynamic environment
  • ICBM experience
  • Experience with facility access control, intrusion detection, and delay & denial concepts
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools, especially Siemens Teamcenter
  • Experience with Systems Engineering concepts (requirements, architecture, MBSE) and tools (DOORS, Cameo)
  • Experience with Software integration and testing
  • Experience with CAD modeling tools, especially Siemens NX
  • Experience with hardware integration in a laboratory environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
