The Senior Windows Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the Window system engineers and administrators responsible for the installation, upgrade, and migration of servers on the Windows OS Platform as required to enhance application security & performance. The Senior Engineer will work with the Business and Application development teams to gather requirements and develop both tactical and strategic solutions to ensure technical objectives of the company are met. This position is responsible for providing oversight and guidance, as well as performing administrative responsibilities when required for both the enterprise Windows Server environment on-premise and in Microsoft Azure Cloud environment. The individual in this role will lead the team to provide all levels of support for the enterprise active directory environment, email (Microsoft O365) and Microsoft Azure. The purpose of the role is to ensure the availability, stability, and consistent performance, scalability, maintainability, and reliability of our corporate windows server environment & applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring strong technical skills, as well as excellent informal leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
Position Responsibilities:
- Mange team of approximately 6 Window Engineer/Administrators, both in house employees and offshore consultants.
- Support & administrate Windows Server environment with new installation, upgrades and patching
- Support the enterprise active directory environment including Azure Active Directory
- Responsible for the support and administration of the Microsoft O365 Exchange environment
- Support and administrate windows server nodes within virtualized environments
Requirements
- Strong time-management, prioritization, multi-tasking, problem-solving skills
- Ability to think critically, analytically, and strategically.
- Experience in administration of Windows Servers (2012R2, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025)
- Experience in administrating Microsoft O365, Exchange and Active Directory environment
- Experience with Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, Print Servers and Windows File Systems
- Experience with SFTP setup and administration
- Experience administrating IIS
- Experience administrating Microsoft Azure Environment
- Experience with Virtualization Environments
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- VMWare (Migration to Hyper-V a plus)
- Working in a ServiceNow environment is desirable
Position Qualifications:
- Experience managing small team of highly technical engineers and administrators
- At least 10 years of experience in Windows server environment supporting all levels of Operating System life cycle management, installation, performance tuning, patching, upgrade and decommissioning both physical and virtual systems.
- Expert in managing a Microsoft o365 and Azure cloud
- Education requirement – BA/BS in computer science, engineering or similar relevant field, masters degree preferred, or relevant experience.
Benefits
This is a 6 month contract with a strong possibility of extention. Pay rate is $90-$100 per hour, dependeing on experience.
