Boeing is seeking an Senior Weight Operations Tech Analyst to join our BCA Flight Sciences team in North Charleston, South Carolina. This team is responsible for Weight Engineering support of manufacturing and testing ahead of delivery. This is a great opportunity for detail-oriented professionals who enjoy hands-on work, real time problem-solving, and supporting critical manufacturing and flight line operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops and Approves inventory equipment lists, conduct inventories, weighs aircraft, determines center of gravity of aircraft and documents results.
- Prepares and Approves Chapter 2 of the Weight and Balance Manual.
- Balances flight control surfaces. Calculates/adjusts weight requirements to balance flight control surfaces following repair and/or repaint
- Develops and Approves flight load planning and helps direct airplane loading of variable load elements.
- Oversees inspection of aircraft to calculate effects of actual weight and location of variable load elements on airplane gross weight and center of gravity, oversees and approves flight manifest for pilot's signatures and flight release.
- Determines methods and equipment required for weighings.
- Resolves complex issues with equipment, components, and weighing systems.
- Must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule, including occasional weekends and overtime. Shifts are approximately (6:00am-2:00pm), (2:00pm-10:00pm), (10:00pm-6:00am).
- Works under very minimal direction.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- 5 or more years of experience developing and maintaining weight, balance and mass properties accounting systems/tools and generating weight and balance reports
- Experience in estimating and measuring the weight of completed airframes or space vehicles.
- Willing to work first, second and/ or third shift and weekends as required to support flight line operations.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Demonstrate dedication to flight safety, a passion for aerospace, an emphasis on teamwork, outstanding interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a demanding, high visibility environment.
- Experience authoring and validating Chapter 2 of the Weight and Balance Manual
- Experience with CATIA, Enovia, REDARS, IVT, Velocity preferred.
