Who we are

Jellyvision ALEX®, is on a mission to improve lives by helping people choose and use their benefits. We are raising the bar—for benefits and the employee experience (for our employees and those of the customers we serve) – by scaling personalization, compassion and an earnest intent to be helpful in all that we do.

Jellyvision people are a group of creative problem solvers who use good judgment, give each other honest feedback, engage in real debate, and snack frequently. We are curious, hungry, and humble—because we know this is how we’ll continue to make an impact. We’re kind, biased towards action, and sweat the details to create great experiences for those we serve.

We are an inclusive, human-first workplace. Respect and trust for each other are foundational, and our equitable total rewards offerings support the lives and holistic well-being of our unique people. At Jellyvision, expect career experiences that challenge you, empower you to have a direct impact on our mission, and enable you to learn, try, and do while having fun along the way.

While the product roadmap is still taking shape, here are some values that will be front and center in all that we do:

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  1. Simplicity and Clarity at the Core: Transform the often overwhelming and confusing world of Medicare into an intuitive, user-friendly experience that breaks down complex terms and options into clear, actionable steps.
  2. Personalization for All: Recognize the unique needs of each beneficiary by delivering tailored advice that considers their health status, financial situation, and lifestyle, ensuring they choose the Medicare plan that best fits their individual circumstances.
  3. Trustworthy Guidance: Serve as a reliable source of information, leveraging up-to-date data and expert insights to ensure that beneficiaries are making decisions based on accurate, relevant, and unbiased information. When we have limitations, we name them.  When there’s ambiguity in a choice for a user, we make sure they know it. And we play no favorites with any vendor in the ecosystem. We serve the user and the user alone.
  4. Empathy and Support: Understand the emotional and psychological aspects of making healthcare decisions, offering compassionate support that helps alleviate anxiety and build confidence during the decision-making process. We speak to “you,” our user, and bring personality, humility, humanity, and honesty into every word we share. And fuck it - we are eager to please, embracing joy and refusing to be boring out of respect for our users’ furrowed brows.
  5. Continuous Innovation: Stay ahead of the curve by continuously improving ALEX Medicare, integrating feedback from users, and adopting new technologies and methodologies to enhance the user experience and ensure the tool remains relevant in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.
  6. Joy. In service of our users and colleagues alike.

What’s the role?

We’re looking for a creative powerhouse with a broad range of design expertise and a passion for innovation to help us bring our Medicare product to life.

As the team’s founding Visual Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in expressing and evolving the ALEX brand while creating a distinct product identity. You’ll design everything from the core multimedia product to supporting marketing materials, always with a singular mission to educate, engage, and inspire our users. You’ll be involved in every stage of development, from conception and brainstorming all the way through to final implementation.

We’re looking for a tech-savvy designer with a strong point of view who can help us define (and articulate to others) the visual qualities that help our products stand out in an industry plagued by stock imagery and Corporate Memphis. You’ll also need to be a skilled communicator who can easily sell your ideas to teammates, stakeholders, and users. We’re a team of bridge builders who believe that storytelling and evangelizing are critical parts of the creative process.

What you’ll do to be successful

1) Bring the Medicare product to life through compelling and engaging design, illustration, and animation

  • Create everything from sketches, wireframes, mockups, and storyboards to polished final illustrations and animations
  • Design a wide range of supporting materials including presentations, social media graphics, email templates, and marketing and sales collateral
  • Bring style and differentiation to the Medicare product landscape while creating a successful expression of the ALEX brand
  • Distill complex ideas down to clear, concise visuals
  • Bring personality and playfulness to everything you create, and find ways to make boring benefits stuff feel interesting and alive
  • Make decisive design choices and be able to articulate those choices to team members and stakeholders

We'll measure success by internal and external stakeholder feedback, research and user testing, and product success metrics

2) Collaborate with a small cross-functional team throughout all stages of development

  • Drive the development of visual concepts through collaborative ideation and brainstorming
  • Work with writers to shape scripting so that our words and our art achieve a beautiful, impossible symbiosis
  • Work with Engineers and other team members to ensure that design work is implemented as intended
  • Openly give and take constructive feedback, incorporating revisions with minimal oversight

We'll measure success by rework/revision time, work completed on time and on budget

3) Embrace innovation, exploring new tools and technology to enhance the user experience

  • Use (or be willing to learn) nonlinear animation tools like Lottie and Rive to create a richer, interactive visual experience
  • Be willing to go deep, embracing the technical nature of our products and leveraging data-driven design
  • Explore and adopt new tools and techniques to create more modern, intuitive, and highly-personalized user experiences

We'll measure success by internal and external stakeholder feedback, research and user testing, and product success metrics

Experience & skills you’ll need

  • 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, illustration, and animation
  • Strong portfolio displaying an ability to work in a variety of styles, with an emphasis on user-facing digital product experiences
