You will work closely with product managers, engineers, data teams, and stakeholders to deliver best-in-class user experiences that align with our business goals and brand values.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who thrives on solving complex problems, mentoring others, and owning end-to-end design outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

UX Strategy and Discovery

  • Lead UX planning, research, and design direction across multiple digital products.
  • Champion user-centred thinking and embed UX best practices across the product lifecycle.
  • Translate business requirements, customer insights, and technical constraints into clear design strategies and solutions.
  • Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to explore problem spaces and align teams.

User Research

  • Conduct user research including interviews, usability testing, observational studies, and heuristic evaluations.
  • Analyse customer behaviour, user journeys, and product analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Capture and communicate insights in a way that supports clear decision-making and prioritisation.

Service Design and Journey Mapping

  • Create personas, journey maps, and service blueprints to guide design decisions.
  • Identify pain points, opportunities, and moments that matter across end-to-end experiences.
  • Help align teams on current-state and future-state experience improvements.

Design Execution

  • Produce high-quality wireframes, user flows, information architecture, prototypes, and polished UI designs.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation of UX work.
  • Contribute to design standards, patterns, and components that support consistency across Voltex platforms.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and stakeholders to define roadmap priorities and customer-centric outcomes.
  • Mentor junior designers and uplift UX maturity within the team.
  • Facilitate design sprints and workshops to support ideation, alignment, and rapid problem-solving.

Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage data, feedback, and experimentation to iterate and optimise digital experiences.
  • Help drive the evolution of Voltex’s design system and UX guidelines.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and emerging practices to ensure innovation and quality remain high.

Requirements
  • 5+ years experience in UX or Product Design, with demonstrated expertise in complex digital platforms.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design processes, research insights, and tangible outcomes.
  • Mastery of Figma (preferred), prototyping tools, and UX methodologies.
  • Experience working cross-functionally within agile or product-led teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead UX initiatives across multiple projects or product streams.
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, component libraries, and accessibility principles.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing for eCommerce, B2B platforms, or internal workflow tools.
  • Familiarity with front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, React) to enable smoother collaboration.
  • Background in service design, systems thinking, or design ops.
  • Experience in data-driven product environments using experimentation, A/B testing, or product analytics tools.

What We Do

Voltex Electrical Accessories are a direct supplier to licenced electrical contractors. Being the manufacturer we're responsible for the design, build, certification, warranty, and distribution of all Voltex products, and we partner with leading global players in production of switch-gear and circuit control products. The business model involves controlling everything, right through to using only direct distribution from Voltex's own warehouses to account-holders, who enjoy the support of policies like a 25 year warranty, and '365 day no-questions-asked' goods return. Direct distribution helps us save every cost we can, so we can pour more money into quality, production and service, then pass the rest of the savings on to our electrical contractor friends. Established in February 2001, Voltex continues to achieve rapid, consistent growth by focusing on compliance, high performance and reliability, with an unflinching commitment to looking after electrical contractors, the guys that do the work. This gives Contractors a good recipe for business success and a competitive edge. Forward ordering and buying online has meant a new way for the trade, and it's been a fun ride helping electricians make the move! We're barracking for our contractors! The 'No questions Asked' returns policy is to make it easy for contractors to order things quickly without the risk of getting stuck with it!. We've got every respect for your competency in ordering, and any time down the track you need to reverse the deal, it’s OK. Whether you over-ordered, changed your mind, or simply lost that job, return freight is free and we raise a credit. Just let us know it needs to come back, and we'll arrange pickup. We welcome personal customer interactions, and would love to hear from you on 1300 722 275, Facebook, email or LinkedIn. If you're in the area, please feel free to visit us. You're very welcome.
