About this PositionThis role is responsible for leading advanced underwriting research and analytics to improve risk segmentation, underwriting performance, and strategic decision making across life insurance operations. The position partners closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and R&D teams to evaluate new data sources, develop and validate predictive models, and translate complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations. The role drives cross functional analytical initiatives, supports underwriting innovation, and regularly presents insights and performance results to senior leadership.Salary range between $85K - $100K Annual

Key Responsibilities Summary
- Research and evaluate internal and external data sources to enhance underwriting risk assessment and segmentation
- Support the development, testing, and validation of predictive underwriting models and tools
- Conduct mortality, morbidity, experience, and A/E studies to assess underwriting methodologies and outcomes
- Perform cost‑benefit, validation, and impact analyses related to underwriting rules, requirements, and workflows
- Translate complex statistical, actuarial, and analytical results into clear, strategic recommendations
- Identify underwriting practices impacting mortality experience and recommend improvements
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and executive‑level presentations tracking underwriting performance and model results
- Lead cross‑functional analytic projects aligned with R&D and underwriting innovation initiatives
- Regularly present insights and findings to senior leadership and key stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience Summary
- 3–5+ years of experience in analytics‑focused roles; Strong experience with life or health insurance experience.
- Proficiency in SQL, database management tools, PowerBI, and advanced MS Office
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field preferred
- Programming experience in Python, R, and/or Palantir Foundry preferred
- Strong background in quantitative analysis, data mining, and risk assessment
- Experience conducting actuarial, underwriting, or insurance‑related studies strongly preferred
- Progress toward actuarial exams or data science certifications is a plus
- Strong strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Any of the following underwriting designations: LOMA/FLMI, FALU, CLU, or equivalent.
- Solid experience in underwriting highly preferred.
