The Role
Struction is different

You’re reading this for a reason.

Something about your status quo feels off.

Maybe you’re tired of grinding 996 for yet another “AI-native” CRM or app builder. Maybe you’re tired of clocking out at 3 p.m., quietly wondering if you’ll be replaced in the next round of layoffs. Maybe you’re tired of chasing fractional gains on ChatGPT 5.1.2.3.

Maybe you’re tired of dressing up your generic B2B SaaS designs as “novel” and posting on socials for psuedo-clout.

The root cause is the same: you want your work to matter.

We’ve found deep meaning and purpose in the ways we’re different — and we hope one or more of these will resonate with you too.

  1. We unapologetically build for the real world

Construction has always been synonymous with human progress, from the Great Pyramids of Egypt to the Empire State Building. It’s also everywhere around you: the place you live, the place you go to work, even the data centers delivering you this very sentence. Every one of them began as an idea, lines on paper or pixels on a screen, until the real-world builders turned them into reality, beam by beam and bolt by bolt.

And yet, while architects, engineers, and countless other professions saw massive productivity gains with technology, the real builders were left behind. Construction productivity is worse today than it was five decades ago.

Our mission, as digital builders, is to serve the physical builders. We see software and AI not as ends themselves, but as tools to empower those who shape the real world. When you work at Struction, you get to see your work literally transform reality — not just push pixels on a button.

If we succeed, Struction will become the compute platform of construction: replacing paper drawings on job-sites and pioneering a world where physical construction can iterate as fast as code.

  1. We develop only the most cutting edge technology

Construction drawings are among the most intricate and information-dense documents on the planet. They’re highly multi-modal - combining texts, tables, vector graphics, images, and 3D models. They’re also highly irregular, shaped by the unique quirks and styles of each architect. And they’re intensely domain-specific: a dashed line can mean something entirely different in a civil plan than it does in an architectural one. Our job is to create a system that parses, indexes, and truly understands all of it.

To accomplish this, we’re developing segmentation models more sophisticated than those used in self-driving cars, agents more capable and adaptive than Claude Code, and knowledge graphs that connect the digital and physical worlds. It’s frontier-level AI — grounded in the most tangible of domains. As such, our User Interfaces must distill heavy workloads into intuitive, learnable, and enjoyable experiences.

  1. We are early-stage (for now).

Most people write off early-stage companies because they see outsized risk for the same job. We see it differently — as outsized impact for the same time investment.

Fresh off our large seed raise, you’d be joining during the golden window: the product is validated by the market, yet the team is still small enough that every person meaningfully shapes the product’s direction and outcome every single day.

We launched our specialty contractor product this January and have seen close to 50% MoM growth since. We’re based out of Colorado - one of the last places where reality, and productivity, still matter (+1 for quality of life). We’re close to our customers and intent on staying close as a company. We believe in working IRL but are consistently flexible. Getting your s*** done is more important than hours in the office, but time with your teammates is priceless.

Life is only as rich as the experiences you chase. And when we succeed, your work will be recognized for breaking the agility barrier of the physical world — unlocking a level of iteration once thought possible only in the digital realm.

What you’ll do in this role
  • Own the end-to-end design of Struction’s product experience, from early concept through shipped pixels.

  • Design interfaces that make complex construction data simple, intuitive, and human-centric: drawing viewers, knowledge graphs, material tables, takeoff workflows, AI-generated outputs, cross-component referencing and synchronization.

  • Develop and maintain a coherent design system that scales as we expand from a few product surfaces to many

  • Conduct user research with customers to deeply understand their workflows, pain points, and mental models

  • Translate cutting edge, ambiguous, and novel AI capabilities into clear, trustworthy user experiences - helping users understand what the system did, why, and how to interact with it

  • Collaborate directly with engineers to ship designs with high fidelity; plan to be in the code review, not just the handoff

  • Provide a leg-up to Struction engineers through fully-functioning mockups, AI prototypes, and detailed experience design

  • Shape product direction alongside founders and engineering; design has a seat at the table, not a ticket queue

  • Report directly to the CEO

You’ll likely thrive in this role if
  • You have 5+ years of UI / UX design experience, with at least 2 years as the primary or sole designer on a product

  • You appreciate and have worked in the creative intersection of physical reality and software

  • Your portfolio demonstrates strong systems thinking; not just beautiful interfaces, but coherent, scalable product experiences

  • You’re fluent in both high-fidelity UI craft and low-fidelity rapid exploration; you know when to polish and when to sketch and move between fluidly

  • You’ve designed for data-dense, workflow-heavy applications (developer tools, analytics platforms, multi-media viewers, or similar) with view-state conditions

  • You’ve shipped designs for AI-native products or features and understand the UX challenges of non-deterministic systems, confidence intervals, and human-in-the-loop correction

  • You’re a strong communicator who can articulate design rationale to engineers, founders, and customers without hiding behind jargon

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and speed… you’d rather ship and learn than wait for perfect specs

  • You have deep empathy for users who aren’t like you, such as estimators and pre-construction professionals who have never used a product like this before

  • You have a sense of humor

  • You’re gritty & scrappy

  • You’re god-tier on Figma

Bonus points if
  • You’ve designed for 3D, spatial, canvas, document-centric (annotation tools, PDFs, CAD) or multi-media applications

  • You can build interactive prototypes in code (React, Framer, Figma, etc.)

  • You’ve built a design system from scratch

  • You’ve conducted and synthesized your own user research without a dedicated research team

  • You’ve managed projects in Linear, Notion, Google Docs, etc.

Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a high school degree, but prefer a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location policy: We expect all staff to be in our office in RiNo, Denver full-time. We have a sweet office. However, we are open to considering a remote / hybrid policy for exceptional talent.

Interview notice: We depend heavily on portfolios to evaluate candidates; that doesn’t mean you need a litany of projects - one comprehensively designed experience can go a long way.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we can’t guarantee successful visa sponsorships for every role and every candidate. If we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa. Please indicate on your application whether you require sponsorship.

We urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work.

If you want to do something different - something uniquely valuable, you should apply. “Don’t outsource your future to a big institution” … let’s build it instead. You will be compensated according to your qualifications and the natural risk of the role (cash + equity). We offer fully-paid health insurance, 401k, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
