The Senior Tooling Engineer interfaces with production line teams, tooling suppliers, 3rd Party Tool and Die Maintenance, and other cross functional teams to optimize tool and part performance. This role will support the AP2 plant directly in troubleshooting tooling issues, leading tool improvements, managing tool repairs, and driving process improvement within the plant. The Tooling Engineer will be a key liaison between the NPI/Project teams and the plant operation, manufacturing teams, and 3rd Party Tool and Die Maintenance; ensuring that plant priorities and objectives are clearly understood and considered for the area under their ownership. Additionally, this role works with metal stamping tooling suppliers on best practice development, manufacturing process improvements, root cause analysis, problem resolution, cost analysis and maintaining existing tooling in support of GEA production. - Drive implementation of die TPM program that supports production goals and objectives.
- Lead execution of tooling projects and support current production by providing technical leadership. Ensure all tooling and equipment is reliable and robust and designed to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Work with GEA product design/AME functions on metal component and assembly part design for manufacturability, scoping tooling costs, and schedules.
- Assist GEA Parts Suppliers, GEA Supplier Quality Engineers, and GEA buyers in developing appropriate, timely, and cost-effective new metal tooling/NPI while addressing current production tooling issues.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, training and leadership for more junior tooling engineers and/or cross-functional team members with regard to tooling design and execution. Utilize technical and project experience to drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Continuous support and liaison to 3rd Party Tool & Die Maintenance in AP2. Monitoring and reporting of tooling repair costs, projects, and preventative maintenance activities.

- Willingness to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment, with occasional off-shift, on-call, and weekend work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or in pursuit of, (BS/BA) required, ideally in engineering.
- Leadership experience or technical proficiency in areas such as manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, materials management, quality, procurement, or fulfillment.
- Experience interacting with transfer press stamping equipment, transfer stamping dies/tools, and transfer systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on stamping tools, manufacturing engineering, maintenance and project execution.
- Experience leading or working with metal fabrication or automated equipment operations.
- Six Sigma certification preferred, with strong knowledge of Lean, DMAIC, and other improvement methodologies.
- Track record of driving results through analytical methods, project scheduling, and teamwork.
Working Conditions:
- Working conditions are normal for both an office and manufacturing environment.
- Work may involve extensive walking and lifting products up to 50 pounds.
- Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, cut resistant sleeves, work shoes/boots.
